Howe's That by Monte Walker The political season is a great revenue bonus for news publications, however, it isn't the easiest thing to manage as a news reporter. If a story comes out about one candidate, it must be reported as news. It doesn't mean that the newspaper "editor" (and I use that term very loosely) has a dog in the hunt. This isn't CNN or Fox News where things tend to be a little slanted. This is small town America where you tell it like it is. This publication is not going to show favoritism to any side of any political race. If it is substantial news, then it must be covered. There is a difference in advertising. If an advertiser wants to pay to run an ad or or information, well, that is genuine capitalism at its finest. When you're in the unbiased news publication business, what I have learned is that each candidate will think you support his or her opponent because you're not publicly supporting them. This goes back to my grandfather's saying of "My Republican friends think I'm a Democrat and my Democrat friends think I'm a Republican. I'm just a news man."

Laura Duree was crowned the Norma J. Wallace Citizen of the Year. This past Monday night the chamber set plans to prepare for year number two and scheduled the event on May 6, a Friday night, at the same
