REMOVAL - Insert a 3/8 inch square ratchet drive into the belt tensioner (fig. 7.53, item 1) and lift upward to remove the belt (fig. 7.53, item 2). INSPECTION - Visually inspect the belt daily (fig. 7.54). Check the belt for intersecting cracks (fig. 7.54). Transverse

cracks
are
acceptable. Longitudinal (direction of belt length) cracks that intersect with transverse cracks are not 1
acceptable. Replace the belt if it is frayed or has pieces of material missing. FIG 7.53
A/C Compressor Belt (if equipped) To tighten air conditioner compressor belt, loosen the two pivot bolts (fig. 7.55, item 1) and the two slide bolts (fig. 7.55, item 2). Using a suitable prying tool, adjust tension on belt to desired tautness. While maintaining tension, re-tighten all four bolts. Inspect belt every 250 hours.
