Important information

Validity These operating instructions only apply to the truck crane with the serial number that is on the cover sheet of these operating instructions.

This truck crane has been equipped at the factory with an adjustable Working Range Limiter by Deutsche GROVE GmbH.

Scope of these operating instructions These operating instructions only describe the menus and displays on the Working Range Limiter display that are available with the additional equipment with the Working Range Limiter and therefore supplement the standard operating instructions GMK 5100.

Safety instructions Danger of accidents arising from situations which cannot be monitored!

The Working Range Limiter only serves as an additional safety device.

Brake the crane movement in time to avoid the obstacle. Do not knowingly drive into the shutdown area. You, the crane operator, are responsible for supervising the working area at all times, so that you can react accordingly in a situation that cannot be monitored electronically.

Danger of accidents due to shutdown values having been set too low!

When entering the shutdown values, be aware that even after switching off the motor, movement can occur that could bring the load into the shutdown area (e.g. due to load swing or bend of the boom). For this reason, always enter shutdown values that ensure a sufficient and safe distance to the object. .

Danger of accidents because the legally prescribed safety distance was not observed!

Even when the Working Range Limiter is switched on, always observe all safety distances according to the legal regulations (e.g. concerning electrical overhead cables) valid in the country of operation.

Scope of Working Range Limiter Truck cranes that are equipped with a Working Range Limiter have an additional plug-in module in the crane cab.

Using the plug-in module, you can set four different limits for the truck crane's working area: – a maximum overall height that cannot be exceeded – a maximum working radius that cannot be exceeded – a maximum permissible slewing angle within which may be operated – the position of individual objects that may not be touched

Additional operating and display elements in the crane cab In addition to the information contained in the provided operating instructions, there is an additional plug-in module for the Working Range Limiter.

The plug-in module is located at the top of the front instrument panel above the SLI module.

1.4

Operation of the Working Range Limiter The Working Range Limiter is operated using the Working Range Limiter plug-in module.

After the ignition is switched on, all monitoring functions are switched on that were on before the ignition was switched off.

The indicator lamps (1) of the monitoring functions which were switched on light up.

The set language (2) is shown on the display.

The text of the Working Range Limiter can be shown in German, English, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Danish, Finnish, Swedish, Portuguese, Polish and Russian. In addition, meters or feet can be set as the unit of measurement. The language and the unit of measurement are set at shipment.

If you need to change the setting, please contact GROVE Customer Support.

Activating the main menu

• Press the Main menu button located on the Working Range Limiter module.

The Working Range Limiter display is shown in the main menu. The word SELECTION appears in the top line.

The current overall height (height) of the boom is displayed in the second line.

SELECTION Height: 10.4 m Radius: 8.6 m Angle: 38,0°

The current working radius (radius) is displayed in the third line.

The current angle of the superstructure in relation to the carrier is displayed in the fourth line.

A displayed angle of 0° means that the superstructure is in working position 0° towards the rear.

The menu shows the current position of the main boom. You can switch from the main menu to the submenus of the various limits by using membrane buttons to .

Submenu for maximum overall height In the Maximum overall height submenu, the maximum permissible overall height of the boom can be set.

Opening the submenu

• Press the Maximum overall height button in the Main menu once. The display switches to the submenu Maximum overall height.

The words HEIGHT LIMITATION appear in the top line.

The current overall height (height) of the boom (e.g. 23.4 m) is shown in the second line.

HEIGHT LIMITATION Height: 23.4 m Limit: 17.5 m [OFF] [EDIT]

In the third line following the word "Limit", the most recently saved shutdown value for the maximum permissible overall height (e.g.

17.5 m) is shown.

The options in the fourth line are described in the following paragraphs.

There are two possible ways to enter the maximum permissible overall height for the Working Range Limiter: – Move the boom to the maximum permissible overall height and apply this value for the Working Range Limiter; p. 1 - 10.

– Enter the maximum permissible overall height as a numerical value if the shutdown values are known; p. 1 - 11.

When the monitoring function is switched on, you cannot move the boom to a larger shutdown value because the monitoring function will switch off crane movement.

You can exit the subsequent entry mode at any time by pressing the ton once.

Establishing and applying the shutdown point

This section describes how the shutdown value can be entered by moving to the shutdown point.

• Press the ü button under the option [EDIT] once. The display switches to Entry mode.

In the third line, the prompt (● ) flashes on the tens place.

HEIGHT LIMITATION Height: 27.5 m Limit: 17.5 m [OFF] [EDIT]

• Move the pulley head without load to the point which is not to be exceeded.

The Current overall height display (1 m) changes accordingly (e.g. 27.5 m).

• Press the Ö button once. The current overall height (1) will be applied as the maximum permissible overall height (2).

The prompt (● ) is turned off.

The current overall height and the set shutdown value are now identical.

The section describes how the shutdown value can be entered by entering a numerical value.

• Press the ü button under the option [EDIT] once. The display switches to Entry mode.

In the third line, the prompt (● ) flashes on the tens place.

We recommend that you enter the value from right to left so that you do not change the digits which have already been entered.

You can only enter a digit where the prompt (● ) is flashing.

• To switch to the ones place or to a digit after the decimal point, press the Entry buttons ( ).

The monitoring function for the Maximum permissible overall height can be switched on or off in the submenu entry Maximum overall height.

To switch on

• Press the @ button once. The monitoring function is switched on and – the indicator lamp (1) lights up.

The options in the fourth line are described in the following sections.

Definition of angles A displayed angle of 0° means that the superstructure is turned toward the rear (and is therefore in working position 0° to the rear).

Complete rotation out of this working position is divided into two semicircles for the display: – angles in right semicircle are displayed as positive numbers (0° to +180.0°), – angles in left semicircle are displayed as negative numbers (0° to –179.9°).

Risk of accidents due to incorrectly set slewing angles!

Observe the definitions of slewing angles A and B when moving to the shutdown points.

– When the value for slewing angle A is applied, the shutdown point must always be located to the left next to the boom.

– When the value for slewing angle B is applied, the shutdown point must always be located to the right next to the boom.

If you swap the values for slewing angles A and B, the shutdown points will then be located within the permissible slewing range.

Submenu for object limit In the Object limit submenu, the contour of objects within the slewing range of the truck crane can be defined using limit points.

Opening the submenu

The words OBJECT LIMITATION appear in the top line.

The current position of the boom (e.g.

An asterisk after a number indicates that the limit point is active.

The options in the fourth line are described in the following paragraphs.

Individual objects located within the slewing range of the truck crane can be defined using two to eight limit points.

Each limit point is defined by an angle (e.g. 37.9°) for the position of the superstructure in relation to the carrier ( Definition of angles, p. 1 - 17) and a working radius (radius) of the boom (e.g. 8.6 m).

If multiple objects (max. 3) are defined within the slewing range, a limit point between two objects must always remain deactivated; p. 1 - 28.

This enables the Working Range Limiter to distinguish between individual objects.

There are two possible ways to enter the object limit shutdown values for the Working Range Limiter:

– Move the boom to the shutdown points and apply this value for the Workp. 1 - 18. ing Range Limiter;

– Enter the shutdown points into the Working Range Limiter if the shutdown values are known; p. 1 - 20.

When the monitoring functions are switched on, the crane movements needed to move to individual limit points can be shut down.

You can exit the subsequent entry mode at any time by pressing the Exit submenu/entry mode ( ) button once.

In the third line, the prompt (● ) flashes on the limit point (● ).

• Choose a limit point using the Entry buttons

In the third line, the prompt (● ) flashes on the limit point (● ).

Deleting limit points

One limit point must always be deleted between two objects so that the Object limit monitoring function is able to distinguish between multiple objects (max. 3).

A limit point has been deleted after the saved shutdown values for the angle and radius have been set to 0.

Switching the monitoring function for object limit on and off

The Object limit monitoring function can be switched on or off in the Object limit submenu.

To switch on

• Press the @ button once. The monitoring function is switched on and – indicator lamp (1) lights up.

Shutdown carried out by Working Range Limiter When one or more monitoring functions are switched on and the shutdown point has been reached, shutdown is carried out by the safe load indicator.

When shutdown is carried out by the Working Range Limiter: – movements that would reach the shutdown point if continued any further Crane movements which are switched off, p. 1 - 31, are switched off;

Bypassing shutdown

If the monitoring function of the Working Range Limiter is switched off in the Working Range Limiter submenu after shutdown has been carried out, shutdown is maintained for safety reasons.

Crane movement shutdown can only be overridden at the SLI.

When you press the Override key-operated push button, shutdown of crane movements listed in the table above is bypassed.

Risk of accidents from overriding a shutdown!

Override the shutdown only if absolutely necessary and if you can clearly see the danger zone. Remember that, because of boom bending, the overall height of the truck crane increases when putting down the load.
