proprio così, apriamo con questo titolo perché mai come quest’anno la voglia di turismo è evidente, forse abbiamo finalmente percepito le potenzialità della nostra città ed abbiamo la consapevolezza che è questa la strada da percorrere in avvenire.

A nche quest’anno alle porte dell’estate sono già in fase di apertura nuovi bar, pizzerie, ristoranti di diverse tipologie e nuove strutture ricettive che si aggiungono alle esistenti.

Fanno loro da contorno belle iniziative quali presenze di festival nazionali, organizzazione di importanti eventi anche di levatura internazionale, intrattenimento con famosi personaggi dello spettacolo, ampio spazio alla cultura, buona visibilità sui media in virtu’ della forte simbiosi che la nostra città dimo -

stra con la natura anche grazie all’impegno sia del Mu.Ma. (Museo del Mare) che dell’AMP (Area Marina Protetta) ... ed inoltre, come ciliegina sulla torta, un evidente restyling della città che spazia dalle periferie al borgo.

Insomma, c’è tanta carne al fuoco... forse troppa, speriamo dunque di saper gestire al meglio il tutto.

Concludiamo comunque augurando un buon futuro alla nostra città e soprattutto un buon lavoro a chi si spende per migliorarci.

ps: a proposito, nel settore turistico avere individui che si impegnano nel promuoverci fa tanto piacere, che abbiano una giusta logica ed un fil rouge da seguire per migliorare questo comparto è una speranza, che siano competenti potrebbe essere una certezza alla riuscita dei loro intenti... però, ricordiamoci, che le competenze sono dettate da anni di studi specifici in questo settore e come si dice dalle nostre parti …..

Forse non tutti sanno che...

Su uno sperone terrapienato delle vicine mura che guardano verso il promontorio si staglia uno strano disegno (creato da conci neri di pietra lavica che tracciano le forme stilizzate di un magico insetto)sulle cui origini e funzioni non sono mai mancate nel tempo le più disparate attribuzioni nate dalla fantasia popolare come dalla penna degli studiosi,scrittori e fumettisti.

Individuata però nella singolarissima figura angolare la rafgurazione dello scarabeo con il suo antichissimo simbolo legato al sole,si è pervenuti,senza alcun dubbio al significato geoastronomico di esatto indice dell’aurora del solstizio d’estate (21 giugno) espressamente conferito da ignoti ideatori all’insegna delle tradizioni mistico esoteriche presenti sia tra i normanni che tra gli svevi.

The magic BEETLE on a rocky embankment near the wall that look towards the promontory stands a strange design (created by blacks blocks of lava rock that forms the trace of a stylized magical insect) whose origins and functions were not lacking in time the most ‘diverse powers born of the popular imagination as the pen of scholars, writers and cartoonists. Lacrimazione del SS. Crocifisso di San Papino

TEARS OF THE SAINTS. CROSS

Milazzo è anche una terra di Santi, oltre che di poeti e Navigatori! Si trovano a Milazzo le Chiese del SS. Crocefisso, a S. Papino, con il Crocefisso miracoloso di Frate Umìle da Pietralia, che lacrimò il 15 Aprile del 1798; del Miracolo della lacrimazione esistono documenti notarili depositati; testimoni del fatto furono il Cap. Comandante del corpo di Artiglieria, il sig. Francesco Catanzaro, Regio Proconservatore, il Regio Barone Giovanbattista Lucifero ed altri... Il racconto dell’evento soprannaturale viene riportato dall’arciprete di Milazzo, Pietro Pellegrino, in un “consulto” datato 23.6.1978 e riportato nel volumetto “La lacrimazione del S.S. Crocifisso di S. Papino nel secondo centenario”, curato dal prof. Antonino Micale. La storia vuole che da tre mesi a Milazzo vi fosse siccità, per cui i fedeli si rivolsero all’Altissimo, impetrando il dono della pioggia. In tale occasione il Crocefisso Miracoloso di S.Papino, di cui alla foto, accordò la grazia agognata... ”Appena fu rimosso dal sacro parate comparve subito il prodigio con essersi turbato l’aere..” ..e ancora: “ nell’ora vespertina tutti i presenti videro bagnarsi con lacrime l’occhio destro”.

Milazzo is also a land of saints and poets as well as Web browsers! They are located in Milazzo the Churches of SS. Crucifix, S. The supernatural story of the event is reported archpriest of Milazzo, Peter Pilgrim, in a “consultation” dated 23/06/1978 and recorded in the booklet “The tearing of the Holy Cross in the second centenary of St. Daddy,” edited by prof. Antonino Micale. The story goes that three months Milazzo there was drought, which the faithful turned to the Almighty, imploring the gift of rain. On this occasion the Miraculous Crucifix of S. Papin, referred to the photo, granted the coveted grace ....” When he was removed from the sacred parades now appeared to have upset the prodigy with the air .. “ .. And again: “the hour evening everyone present saw the right eye wet with tears.”

Il Castello di Milazzo

CASTLE OF MILAZZO

Il Castello, monumento nazionale, con una superficie di oltre 7 ettari di cui 12.070 mq coperti da fabbricati, svetta sul paesaggio di Milazzo alla sommità dell’antico “Borgo”.

Le prime e rudimentali fortificazioni sono databili alla seconda età della pietra: Neolitico (4.000 a.C. circa). Successivamente, i Normanni e gli Svevi edificarono nuove strutture, gli Aragonesi ne adeguarono l’impianto difensivo, ed infine gli Spagnoli lo circondarono con la poderosa cinta bastionata conferendogli le dimensioni di una “cittadella”. Inoltre visse ed operò a Milazzo S.Francesco di Paola, famoso per la sua bontà, umiltà e zelo e per la sua fede nel Signore che gli consentì di operare il Miracolo del passaggio dello Stretto di Messina solcando le onde turbolente del mare sul suo stesso mantello, in compagnia di un fraticello di origine milazzese, un certo fra’ Maiorana. La festa di S.Francesco, protettore della Gente di Mare,

è molto sentita da noi e si celebra la prima domenica di Maggio; a questa segue la Festa della “Berrettella”, nella quale una reliquia del Santo (il copricapo) è portata in pellegrinaggio sulle acque del mare antistante il promontorio.

Il tempo ha intrecciato leggende e favole mitologiche attorno a Milazzo... Si narra dell’esistenza di una bella e sfortunata fanciulla, una tale Elena Baele, di nobile Casato, vissuta nelle terre del Capo di Milazzo, tra i poderi degli ulivi antichi e le scogliere a picco sul mare. La poverina si era perdutamente innamorata del figlio di uno dei contadini che lavoravano x suo padre... i due giovani si amavano in segreto ed insieme, essendo due cavallerizzi provetti, facevano lunghe passeggiate tra le splendide scogliere del Capo, là dove Milazzo abbraccia il mare tra le spume e si protende verso le isole Eolie. Ebbene, essendosi il padre della bella giovine accorto di quanto accadeva, pensò bene di porre fine a quella storia licenziando la famiglia del contadino, pagando anche una forte somma di denaro. Tuttavia Elena, presa dallo sconforto, non trovando più il suo amato, non riusciva a darsi pace e un giorno, in preda alla disperazione, chiese il permesso di fare una cavalcata e galoppò fino alle Scogliere del Capo (dove si trovava sempre con l’innamorato) e si gettò da una rupe (oggi chiamata “u sauto du cavaddu” il salto del cavallo). finendo tra le spume di quel mare che aveva da sempre ammirato . La leggenda narra che nelle notti d’estate il fantasma della sfortunata giovane cavalchi ancora tra le scogliere in cerca del suo amato ... Ma non è un fantasma che incute timore, e nessun pescatore che la scorge ha paura di lei, anzi si commuove ascoltando i suoi singhiozzi.

...Su questa leggenda, esiste una spiegazione molto più romantica della classica che ho il piacere di raccontarVi...

La leggenda della testa di moro Passeggiando per le vie siciliane è facile rimanere incantati dinanzi alle maestose Teste di Moro, in siciliano note anche come “Raste”, che da secoli arricchiscono e colorano le balconate di questa magnifica terra. esse trovano un’origine comune in un’antica leggenda: protagonisti di questa struggente vicenda un giovane Moro e una bellissima fanciulla siciliana. di nobili origini, che visse un amore clandestino con un giovane arabo, ma questo amore impossibile venne ben presto scoperto ed il disonorevole atto punito con la decapitazione di entrambi i giovani innamorati. La vergogna di questo amore sarebbe stata inoltre proclamata dall’afssione di entrambe le teste (tramutate per l’occasione in vasi) su di una balconata. Lo scempio, esaltato da queste teste poste alla mercé dei passanti, sarebbe stato in tal modo un monito fattivo contro ogni altra possibile sconveniente passione. Per tale motivo le teste di moro verrebbero realizzate in coppia, in ricordo e in onore dei due innamorati assassinati.

Cocktail di fama mondiale, bello da vedere: è un cocktail perfetto, simbolo di eleganza. Soprattutto grazie alla protagonista della serie televisiva Sex and the City, Carrie Bradshaw (che non era timida al bancone). Le origini del cocktail Cosmopolitan sono un po’confuse. Ci sono almeno 3 persone che affermano di averlo inventato Cheryl Cook, la regina del Martini di South Beach, negli anni ‘80. Neal Murray che afferma di averlo inventato nell’estate del 1975 mentre lavorava in una steakhouse a Minneapolis, ed infine quella del barista di New York, Toby Cecchini, che inventò nel 1987 il cocktail che conosciamo e amiamo oggi. Dopo aver assaggiato la creazione di Cheryl Cook, ha aggiunto una spruzzata di succo di lime fresco al mix e ha preteso i suoi diritti sul cocktail.

Bicchiere: Coppetta cocktail

Ingredienti:

4 cl di vodka citron ­ 1,5 di triple sec ­ 1,5 cl di succo fresco di limone ­ 3 cl di succo di mirtillo rosso americano (cranberry)

PREPARAZIONE

Mettete qualche cubetto di ghiaccio nella coppetta per raffreddarla. Spremete il limone e filtrate il succo. Versate tutti gli ingredienti in uno shaker, agitate per 12 secondi, togliete il ghiaccio dalla coppetta e versate il cocktail filtrando con lo strainer. Guarnite con una fettina di lime e servite.

PREPARATION

La caponata è un contorno tipico della tradizione culinaria siciliana molto gustoso e amato in tutta Italia. L’aroma pungente dell’Aglio dona a questo piatto un gusto intenso.

Tempo di preparazione: 10 minuti

Tempo di cottura: 20 minuti

INGREDIENTI

150 grammi melanzane, 200 grammi cipolla, 300 grammi peperoni rossi e gialli, 100 grammi pomodori maturi, 10 grammi sedano, 40 grammi capperi dissalati, 40 grammi olive verdi e nere,2 cucchiaini di aceto di vino bianco, 1 cucchiaino di aglio, 12 mezzi giri di pepe nero grani, 5 mezzi giri di sale marino iodato, q.b olio extravergine di oliva.

PREPARAZIONE

In una casseruola con l’olio fai appassire l’Aglio poi versa i pomodori spellati e tagliati a pezzetti. Fai cuocere per 10 minuti circa e aggiungi 5 mezzi giri di Sale Iodato Marino Taglia le melanzane a cubetti e friggile in un’altra casseruola. Taglia la cipolla a rondelle, i peperoni a strisce e aggiungili nella casseruola con i pomodori. Poi unisci la cipolla a rondelle e i peperoni a strisce. Aromatizza con il Pepe Nero in grani. Aggiungi i capperi, le olive ed il sedano tagliato a pezzetti. Mescola bene e cuoci ancora per 20 minuti poi bagna con l’aceto. Alza la fiamma e lascia sfumare.

MILAZZO FROM THE ORIGIN

L a storia di Milazzo si fa risalire ai primi insediamenti umani dell’età neolitica (4000 a.C.). E’ con i Siculi, però che la città acquista ricchezza sino alla fine del VII o ai primi

del VI sec. a.C., quando iniziata l’egemonia espansionistica delle popolazioni greche di Zancle (l’odierna Messina) anche il nucleo abitativo di Milazzo fu da questi sottomesso e trasformato in una “Polis” fortificata, la sottomissione alla vicina Messina durò sino al 270 a.C.. Nel periodo romano le sue acque furono teatro di due importanti battaglie navali. Nel 260 a.C. la cittadina assistette al trionfo della flotta romana comandata dal Console Caio Duilio su quella cartaginese (prima guerra punica). Nel 36 a.C. ben due secoli dopo, Milazzo divenuta importante base navale di Sesto Pompeo, fu legata alle vicende della guerra civile tra quest’ultimo ed Ottaviano per la vittoria navale di Vipsanio Agrippa, comandante della flotta di Ottaviano su Sesto Pompeo. Sotto l’impero d’oriente, la cittadina, non solo fece parte di un importante triangolo difensivo, ma divenne anche una delle principali sedi vescovili siciliane. Con la sua espugnazione avvenuta nell’843 da parte di Fadhl Ibn Giàfar inizia la dominazione mussulmana. Nel 1061 Ruggero D’Altavilla si impadronì

della città e del fortilizio assurgendolo a testa di ponte per la conquista normanna e la cacciata dei mussulmani dalla Sicilia. Incorporato poi nel regio demanio da Federico II di Svevia, il suo nuovo castello fu inserito, fra i “castra exenta” sotto la diretta giurisdizione reale. Nella guerra del Vespro (1282) Milazzo venne alternativamente occupata da due sovrani contendenti: Carlo D’Angiò e Pietro d’Aragona. Per quasi un secolo, dopo che fu nuovamente presa dagli Angioini nel 1341 e fino agli inizi del XVI sec. Milazzo fu al centro di numerose e travagliate vicende belliche legate ai conflitti feudali che insanguinarono la Sicilia.

Durante la dominazione spagnola la città accrebbe la sua importanza strategica. Sono di questo periodo le ultime più importanti ed imponenti fortificazioni dello storico Castello che a tutt’oggi si possono ammirare. Fu anche più volte sede del Vicerè e dei Luogotenenti di Sicilia. Gli ultimi guizzi del dominio spagnolo si esaurirono

nel 1713 quando, la sovranità della Sicilia passò a Vittorio Amedeo II di Savoia. Vano fu il tentativo di riconquista da parte di Filippo V di Spagna che impegnò le truppe austropiemontesi nel vasto e cruento assedio della città dal luglio 1718 al maggio del 1719. Durante tale assedio gravi i danneggiamenti o le distruzioni al patrimonio storico e monumentale. Con l’insediamento dei Borboni sul trono delle Due Sicilie, la città mantenne il suo ruolo strategico militare. Il 20 luglio 1860, Milazzo fu teatro della famosa e risolutiva battaglia tra le truppe garibaldine e le truppe di Francesco II di Borbone. Con l’avvento del Regno d’Italia la città perse la sua importanza strategico militare. Durante l’ultimo conflitto mondiale Milazzo subì massicci e cruenti bombardamenti. Individuata quale zona da sbarco nel piano inglese di invasione della Sicilia, il suo porto venne potenziato notevolmente nelle difese quale importante centro marittimo, ferroviario e militare.

In the war of the Sicilian Vespers (1282) Milazzo was alternately occupied by two sovereign contenders: Charles of Anjou and Peter of Aragon.

For nearly a century after it was again taken by the Anjou in 1341 and until the early sixteenth century. Milazzo was the focus of many troubled and war events related to the feudal conflicts that have bloodied Sicily. During the Spanish domination of the city increased its strategic importance. In this period the last most important and impres sive fortifications of the historic castle that still can be admired. It was several times the seat of the Viceroy of Sicily and Lieutenants. The last flickers of Spanish rule in 1713 when it ran out, the sovereignty of Sicily went to Victor Amadeus II of Savoy. Compartment was an attempt to recap ture by Philip V of Spain, who undertook the Austro ­ Piemontese in the vast and bloody siege of the city from July 1718 to May 1719. On July 20, 1860, Milazzo was the scene of the famous and decisive battle between the troops of Garibaldi and the troops of Francis II of Bourbon. Identified as a landing zone in the plane of the English invasion of Sicily, its port was given a significant boost in defense as an important center of maritime, rail and military.
