Inoltre visse ed operò a Milazzo S.Francesco di Paola, famoso per la sua bontà, umiltà e zelo e per la sua fede nel Signore che gli consentì di operare il Miracolo del passaggio dello Stretto di Messina solcando le onde turbolente del mare sul suo stesso mantello, in compagnia di un fraticello di origine milazzese, un certo fra’ Maiorana. La festa di S.Francesco, protettore della Gente di Mare, è molto sentita da noi e si celebra la prima domenica di Maggio; a questa segue la Festa della “Berrettella”, nella quale una reliquia del Santo (il copricapo) è portata in pellegrinaggio sulle acque del mare antistante il promontorio.

Also lived and worked in Milazzo S. Francesco di Paola, famous for his kindness, humility, and zeal for his faith in the Lord that enabled him to work the miracle of crossing the Straits of Messina plowing through the turbulent waves of the sea on his cloak himself in the company of a young monk of origin Milazzo, one between ‘Maiorana. The feast of St. Francis, patron saint of seafarers, is deeply felt by us and is celebrated the first Sunday in May, this follows the Feast of “Berrettella” in which a relic of the saint (the hat) is brought in pilgrimage to the waters of the sea off the promontory (see photo).
