BANANA ISLAND UPGRADES IT'S ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEM

The CLANNIT application is one of the many achievements of BIPORAL executives This technology is to afford residents of Banana island (BIPORAL CLAN MEMBERS) the ease of generating access codes for their invited guests right from the comfort of their homes via mobile phone The application is also designed to help residents keep track of visitors and domestic staff. The App also allows the BIPORAL security operative to monitor who comes in and exits the estate.

GET YOUR RFID CAR TAGS

We are excited to announce the introduction of RFID tags to our access control system This will become operationally effective from April 1st, 2023 This digital initiative is to enable swift and convenient drive through into the estate. The RFID car tags are now available at the BIPORAL administrative office. This electronic car tags are strictly meant for residents of the estate granting them access while maintaining maximum security at the Banana Island entrance gate.

NEW ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE

The construction of the new BIPORAL administrative office marks a significant milestone in the administration of the 2020-2024 Executive Committee members and the Estate management team. This is the first phase of the project which entails a new gate and administrative office structure. The Estate office serves as a central hub to coordinate all estate related operations. This complex is located at the first oval , just after the estate gate, this makes it easy for residents and vendors to walk in and transact their business seamlessly

We kindly implore residents to bear with us as we commence the second phase of the new gate and administrative building project in the week after the election as this will impact on the free flow of traffic

The office has been designed and fully furnished with modern facilities such as, collaborative workspace for employees, internet access, board room and comfortable reception lounge for residents, vendors and guests In addition to this new development, we have created a banking hall for the ease of residents to experience optimum service delivery. We are delighted to inform residents that the following transactions can be made in the edifice such as vending of water, processing estate access cards and RFID car tags

OVER 700 TREES PLANTED IN BANANA ISLAND BY RESIDENTS

In order to meet up with the global standard of 25% tree cover, the Banana Island environment committee organised the first communal planting activity for all residents in May & October 2022 respectively Over a total number of 300 residents participated in the tree planting exercise , including children and the elderly, with the determination to build a better and sustainable future for Banana Island. Utilising green spaces in the estate, the committee’s mission was to increase the numbers of street trees by 2,000.

The tree planting activity was aimed at creating awareness amongst residents on benefits of trees to the Banana Island ecosystem. In compliance with the objective of BIPORAL, to make Banana Island a serene, tranquil and beautiful environment for habitation, the environment committee, in partnership with Providus Bank and residents, have made great progress by planting over 700 trees.

According to the BIPROAL environment committee chairperson, Bilkiss Adebiyi-Abiola, “ planting trees in Banana island is a worthy cause that deserves more attention and actionable steps from all residents in the estate, as residents we have an obligation to make our environment clean and green”.

OUR SECURITY ARCHITECTURE

The safety and security of Banana Island is a major priority to the executives of the estate as such all efforts are geared towards ensuring all areas are fortified. The new security architecture is based on the belief that places that are not in the open, common view, or hidden, prove to be favorable places for crime to occur As a result, an effective security measure was implemented in January 2023 by BIPORAL to protect residents in the estate from potential threats It combines the three disciplines of personnel, information, and physical security in a manner to create ‘defense in depth’, where multiple layers work together to deter, delay, and deny an attack.

Approximately a total number of 2,500 vehicles access the estate daily, while over 3,000 site workers are engaged in ongoing construction sites within the estate In order to reduce traffic congestion and prevent unauthorized and questionable guests from getting access to the estate, a wellstructured policy has been put in place. The Banana estate visitors' parking lot has been designed specifically for guests, vendors, and commercial partners to verify access codes and go through thorough security checks

The BIPORAL security operatives guarantee residents that this procedure is well ordered, as it eases entry and exit flow to the estate, ensuring peace of mind for all stakeholders

According to BIPORAL Chief Security Officer Abdulgafar, “ it is our goal at the Banana estate security unit to ensure safety within the estate, efficient service, and ensure that visitors experience world-class security management ”

As part of our measure to maintain top security management in Banana Island, the BIPORAL executives ensure that quarterly training programs for security operatives are conducted. This training is aimed to empower security personnel in the estate to be polite, efficient, effective, and confident in their discharge Consequently, this training program enlightens each of the security operatives on the policies and regulations of the estate

In one of the training held this January 2023, materials that covered topics on security protocol and incident reporting procedures were discussed extensively during the program

According to Mr Ireyimika George, the Chairman, Security committee Banana Island, “Given the number of training held, we have received commendations from residents and visitors about several security operatives for their diligence and compliant manner, indeed the Banana estate security operatives are well-prepared to protect property, assets, and residents in Banana Island.”

ATTENTION !!!

Loitering complaints has been addressed, amongst the measures is to detain such staff at Ikoyi Police station. We kindly advise that residents should admonish their staff to work within the estate extant rules.

Determined to have a sustainable future for the estate, the executives ensure BIPORAL workforce are well-coordinated, innovative and structured To achieve effectiveness, productivity and see-to-it that all estate operations are successfully executed, the executives revamped the BIPORAL administrative team, restructured the human resource department , recruited new employees and trained existing members in order to have a productive workforce that is committed to achieving the BIPORAL’s objectives and improved standard of living in areas of infrastructural maintenance, road network rehabilitation, facility enhancement for banana estate residents.

There are also new projects of interest like the upcoming construction of the clubhouse; where residents can experience a one stop shop for social gathering and meeting rooms for business, and new sporting infrastructure: lawn tennis, basketball, standard football pitch and picnic area for mini events. These new developments will significantly change the paradigm of the estate as a major sought after destination.

One perk of living in Banana Island is the sense of community that it offers. Residents are typically families with similar lifestyles and interests which fosters social cohesion Again, the BIPORAL social committee is passionate about designing unique creative events with exciting themes for residents of all ages, to strengthen the community spirit.
