OVER 700 TREES PLANTED IN BANANA ISLAND BY RESIDENTS
In order to meet up with the global standard of 25% tree cover, the Banana Island environment committee organised the first communal planting activity for all residents in May & October 2022 respectively Over a total number of 300 residents participated in the tree planting exercise , including children and the elderly, with the determination to build a better and sustainable future for Banana Island. Utilising green spaces in the estate, the committee’s mission was to increase the numbers of street trees by 2,000.
The tree planting activity was aimed at creating awareness amongst residents on benefits of trees to the Banana Island ecosystem. In compliance with the objective of BIPORAL, to make Banana Island a serene, tranquil and beautiful environment for habitation, the environment committee, in partnership with Providus Bank and residents, have made great progress by planting over 700 trees.

According to the BIPROAL environment committee chairperson, Bilkiss Adebiyi-Abiola, “ planting trees in Banana island is a worthy cause that deserves more attention and actionable steps from all residents in the estate, as residents we have an obligation to make our environment clean and green”.
