Art and 3D Design A Level Overview
This course has been developed for students interested in developing their learning in Textiles and Product Design along with a range of design orientated outcomes Students work in sketchbooks and a variety of scale and media to explore their ideas. Following the Art, Craft & Design course allows students to produce work in a wide range of materials and outcomes including Textiles and Product Design. There are a series of lesson based workshops in which students learn a range of new skills. The Art & Design Studio offers the opportunity to use a laser cutter, sewing machines, 3D printer and silk screen printing alongside traditional workshop equipment. Students are encouraged to develop an individual and personalised approach to their studies. Progress is monitored and supported through regular tutorials. Students and staff agree challenging targets and areas for development. Students are encouraged to visit appropriate exhibitions to supplement their studies and the department provides a range of off site learning opportunities including gallery visits, for example: London; Tate Modern and museums; V&A and the British Museum.
Entry Requirements 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 You should have gained at least a Grade 4 in one or more of the following subjects at GCSE: Art & Design Textile Design Product design (3D)
Students achievements are celebrated in a summer exhibition held at College. The course is demanding and challenging, however students enjoy studying Art, Craft & Design at All Hallows.
