Business - BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate

Overview

The Extended Certificate is an industry-recognised qualification geared to the specific requirements of the Business Sector. At Level 3 they have been accredited by QCA to be equivalent to A Levels. The course is delivered as a two year programme, to provide a qualification at Pass, Merit or Distinction. The Extended Certificate is equivalent to 1 A Level.

How is the course structured?

The Extended Certificate (equivalent to 1 A Level over 2 years) has 4 units of work: • Exploring Business • Developing a Marketing Campaign • Personal and Business Finance Optional units: • Market research • Recruitment and selection process

How is the Extended Certificate assessed?

The course is assessed through coursework, controlled assessment and external examination. Students are encouraged to join the Career Ready Programme which provides them with a business mentor, skills for career success and a 4-6 week paid internship. 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4, including Maths and English

Chemistry A Level

Overview

A Level Chemistry is a rigorous, challenging and ultimately rewarding course that develops students' scientific skills and knowledge. The course has been split into three sections; physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry and organic chemistry. Each section begins with an overview, which puts the topic into a broader chemical context and encourages understanding of the place of each topic within the subject. The course aims to: • develop your interest in and enthusiasm for the subject, including developing an interest in further study and careers associated with the subject; • develop competence and confidence in a variety of practical, mathematical and problem solving skills; • understand how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society; • carry out experimental and investigative activities, including appropriate risk management, in a range of contexts; • analyse and interpret data to provide evidence, recognising correlations and causal relationships; • evaluate methodology, evidence and data, and resolve conflicting evidence. 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4, including English Language and Maths Grade 5 in two Science GCSEs including Chemistry Grade 5 Maths
