Further Mathematics A Level

Overview

A level Further Maths is designed to broaden and deepen the mathematical knowledge and skills developed when studying A level Mathematics. It may be studied alongside or after taking A level Maths to provide a stimulating experience for those who enjoy the subject.

A level Further Maths content is drawn from Pure and Applied maths. The Applied content consists of Statistics, Mechanics and Decision Maths. There is a proportion of optional content defined by the exam boards.

How will I be assessed?

Exams are linear and taken at the end of the course. These consist of 3 papers, of varying content, but weighted equally.

Studying both A level Maths and A level Further Maths provides a foundation for further studies in any Science or Maths based course, ranging from Computer Science, Medical Science, and Psychology to Statistics, Management and Actuarial Science. 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 A minimum grade 7 in Maths
