Mathematics A Level

Overview

A Level Maths provides students with a thorough grounding in the mathematical tools and techniques often needed in the workplace. The logic and reasoning skills developed by studying A Level Maths make sure the qualification is widely respected even in non Mathematical arenas.

A Level Maths content is 100% prescribed, containing Pure and Applied Maths. The Applied Maths is drawn from Statistics and Mechanics only.

Overarching themes of mathematical argument , language and proof, problem solving and mathematical modelling underpin all parts of the qualification.

How will I be assessed?

Exams are linear and taken at the end of the course. These consist of 3 papers, of varying content, but weighted equally.

A Level Maths provides a foundation for further studies in a variety of fields and careers including Science, Engineering, Medicine, Law, Actuarial Science, Operational Research, Aerospace Engineering, Chartered Accountancy, Quantity Surveying, Software Engineering and many more.

5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 A minimum grade 6 in Mathematics
