INTERVIEW WITH IZZY FROM BLACK HONEY Entrevista con Izzy de Black Honey
1. How was it like touring with Royal Blood last year? Fucking amazing we had the best time playing arenas and concert halls every night. 2. You long-awaited first album is due out at the end of summer 2018, can you give us the lowdown on how it will sound? It’s a bad-ass record with loads of heartbreak and cinema. 3. Where can we see you guys performing live this year? I guess with the album you’ll be hitting the road hard. Yeah we will be at Latitude, 2000 trees, Truck and many more! We hope to be back on the island soon though as we loved playing Ibiza Rocks last year. 4. Is the long and winding road to fame and glory a smooth ride or have there been pitfalls on the way? Music is pretty up and down, it’s quite intense to base your career on something that is solely dependant on your headspace. Sometimes my head doesn’t wanna play ball and I can’t write, where as other times I feel so on fire the rest of the world can’t keep up. 5. With all that has been happening lately with men being rightly called out for sexual harassment and sexism, do you think things will start to get easier for women in the industry? Yeah, I think the music industry is just a reflection of the culture we live in, and as we see those changes in music hopefully we’ll see them in the world around us too. 6. Your video for Dig was one of my favourites of the year, total Tarantino style! As well as Mr T what other influences do you draw on in your videos? I love all kinds of cinema, for Dig we took a lot of inspiration from Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliette. I also love Andy Warhol and the whole factory scene and love reading poems.

1. ¿Cómo fue hacer una gira con Royal Blood el año pasado? De putisima madre! Fue increíble, una pasada tocar en salas y plazas todas las noches. 2. Su esperado primer álbum saldrá al final del verano de 2018, ¿puede darnos una idea de cómo sonará?
7. How did your photoshoot at Tropicana Ibiza Suites go last year? It was amazing I’ve been quite secretive about showing the photos to people because I wanna come and do more amazing stuff out there. It’s my favourite hotel I’ve been to, when we came everyone was like “Oh my god Izzy, did you design this hotel?” 8. Will you be back to Ibiza for more rock and roll mayhem in 2018? All I can say is watch this space!
Es un disco muy cañero con mucho desamor y drama. 3. ¿Dónde podemos veros tocar en directo este año? Supongo que con el álbum saldréis a la carretera dándole duro. Sí, estaremos en Latitud, 2000 Trees, Truck y muchos más. Esperamos volver pronto a la isla, ya que nos encantó tocar a Ibiza Rocks el año pasado. 4. ¿El camino largo y serpenteante hacia la fama y la gloria es un viaje suave o han surgido trampas en el camino? La música es como una montaña rusa, es bastante intensa para basar tu carrera en algo que depende únicamente de tu cabeza. A veces no está preparada y no puedo escribir, como en otros momentos en los que me siento tan en racha que nadie puede conmigo.

5. Qué opinas sobre todo lo que ha estado sucediendo últimamente con los hombres que con razón han sido tachados por el acoso sexual y el sexismo, ¿cree que las cosas comenzarán a ser más fáciles para las mujeres en la industria? Sí, creo que la industria de la música es solo un reflejo de la cultura en la que vivimos y, a medida que veamos esos cambios en la música, con suerte los veremos también en el mundo que nos rodea. 6. ¡Tu video para Dig fue uno de mis favoritos del año, el estilo total de Tarantino! Además del Sr. T, ¿qué otras influencias usas en tus videos? Adoro todo tipo de películas, de Dig nos inspiramos mucho en Romeo y Julieta de Baz Luhrmann. También amo a Andy Warhol y toda la escena de la Factory y me encanta leer poemas. 7. ¿Cómo fue tu sesión de fotos en Tropicana Ibiza Suites el año pasado? Fue increíble. He sido bastante reservada acerca de enseñárselas a la gente porque quiero venir y hacer más cosas increíbles allí. Es mi hotel favorito en el que he estado y cuando vinimos todo el mundo estaba como “oh Dios mío! Has diseñado tú este este hotel?” 8. ¿Volverás a Ibiza para tener más caos de rock and roll en 2018? ¡Todo lo que puedo decir es que estéis atentos a nuestras novedades!
