DORADO IBIZA SUITES SE CONVIERTE EN UNA GALERÍA DE ARTE GRACIAS A MONDO GALERIA

El pasado 27 de junio de 2017 se inauguró una exposición que recoge catorce fotografías originales de los cantantes y bandas que dan nombre a las habitaciones del hotel con sus discos de oro más recordados.

La cámara de fotos y la guitarra eléctrica han estado hermanadas desde los inicios del rock and roll. No se puede entender la historia de la cultura que revolucionó el siglo XX sin las inolvidables fotografías que se tomaron de los Beatles, Bon Dylan, Elvis Presley o los Rolling Stones. Esta relación cobra fuerza con la propuesta que prepararon Dorado Ibiza Suites y Mondo Galeria para el verano de 2017. El hotel ibicenco, un templo consagrado al rock, se convirtió en una galería de arte al colgar en cada una de sus suites una imagen original de las catorce leyendas de la música que grabaron los discos de oro que dan nombre a las inimitables suites del Dorado. El pasado 27 de junio fue el día elegido para inaugurar una exposición fotográfica que condensa el sonido legendario de trabajos como el ‘‘We are the champions”, de Queen, o “Light my fire”, de los

Doors.

Diego Alonso, director de Mondo Galeria, un espacio artístico referente en la ciudad de Madrid, ha sido el encargado de escoger las icónicas instantáneas, obras maestras captadas por la mirada de siete fotógrafos entre los que se encuentran Terry O´Neill, Alfred Wertheimer o Juan PérezFajardo. Los clientes que se alojen en Dorado Ibiza Suites podrán disfrutar de la compañía silenciosa de David Bowie, los Beach Boys, Bruce Springsteen, Joan Jett, Blondie o Loquillo a través de las fotografías que añadirán un atractivo más a la cuidada decoración creada por el estudio Ilmiodesign. Tampoco faltó a la cita Julio Iglesias, quien tiene una suite dedicada en el hotel ibicenco gracias a “Soy un truhán, soy un señor”, uno de los LP’s más coreados de la historia musical. Además, los amantes del rock que duerman en el establecimiento de Platja d’en Bossa podrán comprar también las fotografías y llevarse a casa un pedacito de la historia de la música.

“Esta nueva experiencia surgió de un encuentro con Diego Calvo, socio de Dorado Ibiza Suites. Pensamos que la imagen de los músicos homenajeados en cada suite podría añadir a la experiencia que se ofrece en cada habitación con sus vinilos en 45rpm, sus neveras Marshall o sus duchas en las que puedes cantar sintiéndote Elvis… Para ello era necesario hacerlo con estilo, invitando a fotógrafos que en sí mismos son iconos tan importantes como los mismos músicos…”, explica Diego Alonso.

A la inauguración acudieron algunos de los autores de las fotos que se expusieron en el hotel. Juan Pérez-Fajardo, referencia fotográfica indiscutible en el rock español e internacional, estuvo presente. “Para mí es un honor ver dos de mis fotografías expuestas en un hotel como Dorado, que homenajea de una forma tan brillante a los artistas que siempre me han apasionado. Mi sueño de chaval era tener mi propia banda y emular a mis ídolos, pero con el tiempo descubrí que realmente tenía talento para la fotografía y no para la música. Con mi cámara he podido vivir el día a día de muchísimas giras. Es una gran responsabilidad y una alegría al mismo tiempo que muchas bandas confíen en mí para que cree su imagen. Yo trato que las fotografías que les hago suenen, y transmitan a quien las vea la música que ellos componen”, explica Fajardo.

El fotógrafo madrileño colgó de las paredes del establecimiento de Concept Hotel Group dos imágenes de Kiss e Iggy Pop, que decoraron las suites consagradas a dos álbumes que arrasaron en su momento: “I was made for lovin’ you” y “Lust for Life”. Charlar con él mientras se bebe un cocktail o una copa en la terraza o la piscina del hotel Dorado ya es posible desde el pasado 27 de junio, una noche donde el rock se convirtió en imagen a la orilla del Mediterráneo.

Tributo fotográfico a las estrellas del rock

Photos and the electric guitar have been linked since the beginnings of Rock ‘n’ roll. It would be impossible to understand the history of the music that revolutionised the 20th century without the unforgettable photos of The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley and the Rolling Stones. This link will be come even stronger with the exhibition that Dorado Ibiza Suites and Mondo Galeria are preparing for summer 2017. The Ibicencan hotel, a consecrated temple of rock, will become an art gallery when an original photo of 14 musical legends is hung up in each fabulous suite of Dorado. These photos will match the name of the artist on the door. The 27th June is the chosen day to inaugurate this photographic exposition, amplifying even further the sound of “We Are The Champions” by Queen or “Light My Fire” by The Doors.

Diego Alonso, director of Mondo Galeria, one of the most important artistic spaces in Madrid, is the person responsible for choosing the iconic pictures, masterpieces captured by the eye of seven photographers including: Terry o’Neill, Alfred Wertheimer and Juan Pérez-Fajardo. The clients who stay at Dorado Ibiza Suites will enjoy the silent company of David Bowie, The Beach Boys, Bruce Springsteen, Joan Jett, Blondie and Loquillo among others, with photographs that will make the superbly decorated suites, by Ilmiodesign, even more attractive. Julio Iglesias won’t be missing this party either, with a suite dedicated to the Spanish master in Dorado. His famous “Soy un truhan, soy un señor” is one of the most popular albums in music history. Rock ‘n’ roll lovers who get some shuteye in this Playa d’en Bossa establishment will also be able to buy the photographs on show and take a little bit of Rock ‘n’ roll history back home.

This new experience came to fruition through a chance meeting with Diego Calvo, one of the partners of Dorado Ibiza Suites. Diego Alonso explained “We thought that each suite would be even cooler with photographs of each person in the room, taken by photographers who are as iconic as the artists in the photos. The photos add to the experience of each room which have: turntables, Marshall fridges and showerheads in the form of vintage microphones where you can pretend to be Elvis”

Some of the photographers whose works will be on show will also be present at the inauguration. Juan Pérez-Fajardo, one of the leading photographers in Spanish and international rock for example. He said “For me, it’s an honour to have two of my photos shown in a hotel such as Dorado, that pays homage in such a brilliant way to artists that I have always loved. When I was a kid my dream was to have my own band and emulate my idols. However, over time I realised that what I really had talent for was photography, not music. With my camera I have shot the day to day of many tours. It’s a huge responsibility as well as a joy that so many bands have confided in me to take pictures. I want my photos to make you dream and transmit the music that is being played”.

This photographer from Madrid will hang up two photos of Kiss and Iggy Pop on the walls of Dorado, decorating the suites named after two blockbusting albums: “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” and “Lust For Life”. You’ll be able to chat with him over a cocktail on the terrace of Dorado Hotel, on the 27th June, a night where rock will become a photo on the shores of the Mediterranean.
