WITH 5 WEEKS TO GO, VIZION’S CONFERENCE RETURNS ON MARCH 22ND AND 23RD, AT ONE OF THE LARGEST EVENT VENUES IN THE UK, TELFORD INTERNATIONAL CENTRE.
Hosted by one of the original presenters of Top Gear and Fifth Gear, motoring journalist and transport campaigner, Quentin Willson, brings his flair to Kinetic, which is measuring up to be the biggest event yet.
Kinetic, let’s move forward together. A powerful statement that embodies the thinking of Vizion. Combining collision repairers, partner businesses, insurers, vehicle manufacturers and suppliers, we are collaborating to rise above the stresses and restrictions felt by us all in recent years, to embrace a much more positive future.
Designed to take the delegates on a journey over the two-day event, Kinetic looks at the critical shifts in the sector, affecting the entire automotive ecosystem. Innovations in design such as connected car, fuel types electric and hydrogen, key factors such as the environment and energy are featured. With new processes and digital systems that are, and will continue to, turn challenges in to possibilities. Utilising the combination of exhibition, conference and networking opportunities that have made previous Vizion events so successful for everyone who attends, continues at Kinetic.
There are many important things to demonstrate and discuss, one the biggest drivers of change and most important to us all is sustainability and as such, this plays an important part at Kinetic.
“Working together, we have a business and moral obligation to do all we can to drive sustainability. This drive has the power to harness great potential, we see sustainability as the catalyst for many opportunities and positive change, beyond the immediate and environmental imperatives.” explains Chris.
Vizion R&D teams are constantly reviewing what can be done better, and how Vizion, our customers, partners and suppliers, can collaborate to build better, more sustainable solutions, providing opportunities to become more aware, to expand on our knowledge and the successes already achieved.
There is no hiding from our collective environmental responsibilities, and these are so big, and the targets so challenging, that no one person or business can resolve them alone. We can, and will, make a difference together, through better thinking. Saving the planet doesn’t need to cost the earth.
Understanding the commercial space is critical and we will be joined by a number of insurers at this year’s event, with discussions and presentations with representatives from Aviva and AXA. Additionally, this year’s event will be enriched with a second day, which will increase the focus on vehicle manufacturing and the
future technologies that are now very much here in our present, such as connected car, BEV and Hydrogen, and what this will mean for our industry.
Chris Mckie said “Our vehicle manufacturer partners have been hugely supportive. Kinetic welcomes Ford and Stellantis as sponsors, along with BMW, JLR, Lotus, Nissan, Porsche, Toyota, Volvo and VW Group, at this stage as exhibitors, and in some cases speakers, showcasing technologies and discussing their strategies and drivers for future solutions, their approach to repair, the customer and the effect the connected world will have on our industry. This is no longer classed as tomorrow, this is the real world today, and I think some will be surprised how real world it is in some cases.”
Another area of focus will be cyber strategy, and the need to be even more secure, vigilant, and resilient.
“With emerging technologies, data analytics, connected car and machine learning, a philosophy of ‘it won’t happen to me’ is a dangerous one. There has been a number of high-profile companies in the sector that have been victims of cyber-attacks, it is not about fault when these things happen, but we do need to see what we can learn, to look at these risks and what can be done to reduce all party risk in this ongoing battle.”
Our conference and exhibition promises to inspire and show the latest services, products, and innovations on offer by Vizion and leading businesses, big and small, dedicated to the repairer and our industry as a whole. Take the opportunity to make new connections, do business, collaborate and share ideas with a huge cross section of the industry and an extensive array of sponsors and exhibitors from global businesses.
Chris Mckie said “Vizion has grown hugely and diversly since our launch, we could not have gotten to our current scale or successes without the trust and support of our partners and without us trusting and supporting them. Collaboration has always been the Vizion way, regardless of size, everyone involved is a contributor to the whole and our combined successes and resilience. To see so many of our partners from the original teams to the brand new, growing with us and attending Kinetic, is genuinely heart-warming. Each sponsor, exhibitor and delegate brings a different perspective and contribution, ensuring Kinetic has the widest possible appeal, with some very interesting elements that should not to be missed.”
Kinetic has something for everyone, our intent is to share openly our thoughts to motivate, engage and open discussions on some important areas of change, new and old, so we can all move forward together with shared potential.

THE LAUNCH OF VIZION FRANCE, FURTHER ENHANCES OUR EUROPEAN OPERATIONS, EXTENDING OUR SERVICES AND SYSTEM SOLUTIONS TO EXISTING AND BRAND NEW CUSTOMERS IN THIS EXCITING MARKET.
Vizion France is growing rapidly with its own dedicated team and bespoke systems, built specifically for the French market, to fulfil its unique attributes.
In our first major client project, Vizion and WRC are working closely with Ford France to assist in the delivery and management of the newly formed Ford Carrosserie Conforme Network, FCCN.
This provides an ideal symmetry to the FCCN operations here in the UK, whilst ensuring the uniqueness of the French and UK markets are realised in the wider design.
The Vizion France team, working hand in hand with the Ford team in France, are supported from the UK, sharing knowledge and best practice. The Ford team in France, Cologne and the UK provide a wealth of experience, helping to move these very exciting new initiatives forward at pace in both markets, to realise the full opportunity for the customer and partnerships through collaboration.
The first phase priority is to increase the presence and position of FCCN in the French market and to align with and complement existing Ford infrastructure and services. We will then expand the network elements quickly to include a general Vizion network solution and other brands.
Phase one is well underway, with a comprehensive recruitment and auditing programme using Vizion Opus™, our integrated auditing and standards platform within Cortex™ allowing repairers to apply and manage key questions to ensure compliance to the Ford Carrosserie Conforme Network.
The next stages will bring the popular fully integrated system of customer booking, repairer management via AutoFlow™ and Cortex™, allowing a full range of digital solution to all repairers, with a constant focus and faster progression towards the connected customer experience.
Businesses are facing the double hit of spiraling costs and increasing inflation on top of energy costs that are extraordinarily high - and rising. Controlling costs is now top of most businesses’ agendas, and bodyshops are no different, particularly as they utilise energy to carry out their daily work.
Jim Muse, Vice President, Axalta Refinish, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), says, “Bodyshops are facing a crisis of their own. They must control their energy costs in the area of the bodyshop that uses the most energy – the spraybooth. In order to control those costs, however, they must first know what the costs are, and then understand how different processes impact those costs. And that’s where we come in. Axalta has created a dedicated tool, available today in the market, specifically designed to do just this: the Axalta Energy Scanner.”
The Axalta Energy Scanner looks at a variety of variables including external air temperature, spray booth temperature, bake temperature where relevant, cost of gas and electricity, the number of jobs per week, as well as the general spraybooth data. From there, the tool calculates how much the bodyshop can save on process time and how much money they can save on energy consumption. The Axalta Energy Scanner compares a bodyshop’s current paint system’s cycle cost
against Axalta Refinish’s Fast Cure Low Energy (FCLE) technology’s cycle cost, which reveals a clear prospect for increased capacity and therefore an opportunity for business growth.
Based on Axalta’s revolutionary in-house chemistry that uses both temperature and ambient humidity to accelerate the drying process, the patented FCLE technology delivers the perfect balance between high speed and low baking energy consumption, while providing the highest quality finish. It is proven to lower the energy costs of running a direct gas-fired combi spraybooth by approximately 75% based on a typical 30 minute, 60oC bake cycle.
FCLE is the only refinish technology that can be dried at lower baking temperatures, or at air dry temperatures of 20oC, yet still has the productivity of traditional systems. The FCLE technology also aligns with Axalta’s 2030 Sustainability goals, released earlier in 2022, specifically the goal that states that 80% of Axalta’s new technology and innovation developments will offer customers sustainability benefits. The reduced energy usage delivered by FCLE technology decreases the bodyshop’s carbon footprint by up to 55%, making the technology more sustainable compared to traditional refinish technologies.

THE ENERGY CRISIS, CALLED BY SOME THE MOST EXTREME THAT HAS EVER OCCURRED IN EUROPE, IS WORSENING.This patented technology is offered by Axalta’s three premium global refinish brands, Cromax, Spies Hecker and Standox.
Axalta’s patented Fast Cure Low Energy technology reduces energy costs in the spray booth by up to 70% –while still giving you the best quality repair. And you don’t even need any special equipment to benefit from it. With the soaring cost of energy, it’s a simple way to slash energy costs – without compromising on quality. Don’t let your profits go up in smoke. Find out how Fast Cure Low Energy technology can help you right now. Find out more at refinish.axalta.eu
Rising energy prices and the need to reduce carbon emissions have highlighted the need to ‘Rethink’ the way Vehicle Refinishing (VR) businesses approach sustainability, and how even very small changes to existing processes can deliver significant improvements in processing times while dramatically reducing energy consumption and costs.
In figures published by AkzoNobel using its unique CO2eRepairCalculator tool, using Sikkens Autosurfacer™ UV versus a conventional primer, that requires spray booth heating, results in 85% saving in energy consumption, and an 82% reduction in kg/CO2.
To put these percentages into context, this equates to a possible saving of 127.750 kilowatt hours of energy, and more than € 34.000 in energy costs, over a 12-month period on a typical two panel repair. *
The figures coincide with Sikkens’ ongoing campaign urging the vehicle refinishing sector to Re-Think sustainability: “Today’s bodyshops are confronted with high energy costs and a talent crisis,” says Frank Delaney, UK&I Strategic Account Manager. “The need
for reliable products that help you reduce energy costs while speeding up the repair process are key for success.
Sikkens Autosurfacer™ UV is one of the fastest curing fillers in the vehicle refinishing market within five minutes and is ready to use straight from the can readyto-use with unlimited pot life. This in turn accelerates the repair process and enables bodyshops to increase their through-put. Paint usage per repair is also reduced by nearly 50% compared to conventional primers. The primer has excellent build, can be sanded right after curing and is not sensitive to contour mapping, making it the perfect filler for any repair.
The Sikkens’ CO2eRepairCalculator tool was developed with leading consultancy Carbon Neutral Repair. Sikkens Autosurfacer™ UV is available in selected markets worldwide.

SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN 2015, CORNERSTONE’S RISE HAS BEEN SIGNIFICANT. FROM ITS HUMBLE BEGINNINGS, CORNERSTONE NOW WORKS WITH SOME OF THE LARGEST, MOST INFLUENTIAL BODYSHOP GROUPS, ACCIDENT MANAGEMENT COMPANIES AND INSURERS IN THE INDUSTRY.
As the vehicles have evolved, so too have the courses and content we deliver. It is essential that we keep technicians up to date with any changes to ensure they continue to repair vehicles safely
Lee Caswell Technical DirectorTheir training programmes have evolved year on year and now include the industry’s most comprehensive selection of non-structural training available.
With the current challenges now facing the industry, Cornerstone’s training techniques and processes have never been more relevant. Parts prices and availability, staff and inflation, to name a few, have led numerous bodyshops to seriously consider how to improve their financial profile.
Cornerstone play a major part in that decision.
Tony Ward (MD), passionately recounts, “From my early accident management days of running in and out of bodyshops 5 days a week, my heart has always been in the bodyshop. When we started Cornerstone the vision was clear. To improve the knowledge and skill sets of engineers, VDA’s and technicians to support them to safely repair more parts and improve their profitability. Without profitable bodyshops, we do not have an industry!!!
On average, Cornerstone profess to train your technicians to repair a minimum
of 1 more extra part per day following training. This leads to some notable improvements in cash flow and bottomline profit, as well as more recently, helping with the significant parts availability issue.
The need for training in general has been accelerated by the variety of materials on modern vehicles, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and even the way our vehicles are powered. All of the above have added to the complexity of vehicle repair and Cornerstone are continually adapting their course content accordingly.
Lee Caswell (Technical Director) says, “As the vehicles have evolved, so too have the courses and content we deliver. It is essential that we keep technicians up to date with any changes to ensure they continue to repair vehicles safely. One example would be our glue pulling and push to paint training which is removing the need to add heat to panels, improving the speed of repair and reducing material costs, as well as not having to power down electric vehicles.”
The benefits don’t stop there. In addition to the safety and profitability benefits,
Cornerstone are having a huge impact on the industry’s Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG). By repairing more parts, the obvious by-product is that less parts are required.
With an average annual Carbon reduction of 7.5 tonnes of CO2 per trained bodyshop, it’s clear to see why Cornerstone are in demand from all sectors of the industry.
In summary, with so many solutions to the challenges the industry is facing, it’s clear that Cornerstone are perfectly positioned to support the safety, profitability and sustainability of both the bodyshop and the industry as a whole.
Tony Ward continues, “Over the past 7 years, we have made some significant progress. By bringing Insurers and bodyshops closer together we are seeing a much more joined up, trusted approach to vehicle repair. Bodyshops need to have the right level of training, tooling and consumables to be able to safely carry out repairs on modern vehicles and, similarly, Insurers need to motivate the bodyshops to continue to focus on repair over replace. If we get that right, everyone wins!!!”
Focussing primarily on plastic, push to paint, steel and aluminium, Cornerstone have a proven track record in supporting bodyshops by increasing and improving their scope, safety, quality, efficiency and profitability of repair.
This, in turn, reduces average repair costs, improves key to key times and positively improves the environmental impact by significantly reducing the need for parts as well as extraction, assembly, deliveries, waste, landfill and carbon emissions.
Improved profitability
Improve and increase the scope, safety, quality and efficiency of repair
Increased labour sales
Reduced paint and material usage
Reduced parts spend
Improved cash flow
Reduced average repair costs
Reduced key to key times
Positive environmental impact

SINCE THE LAUNCH OF VIZION DRIVE IN MAY 2022, THE DEDICATED VIZION NETWORK COURTESY VEHICLE SOLUTION HAS GONE FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH AND RECENTLY PASSED THE MILESTONE OF 1000 VEHICLES DELIVERED.
Since conception, Vizion Drive has typically focused on Group B vehicles due to the high demand for high volume/no frills vehicles to keep costs down, however, 2023 will see development of several other options such as LCV, EV and management vehicles.
As consumer demand increases, we envisage a big shift towards EV courtesy cars and have already seen a lot of bodyshops prepare for this change. To support this demand, we include PowerDrive as part of our overall solution which provides solutions for our members to
install and manage plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) charging stations at their repair centres.
Team Drive are excited to attend the Vizion Kinetic on March 22nd and 23rd and meet our current and future customers.
As well as our great deals on courtesy cars, we will have an exclusive deal for all registered delegates at the event - see you there and make sure you're registered. www.kineticevent.net
At the end of 2022, a select number of AutoFlow 4:G Repairers have started a pilot for a direct connection to ‘TPS – for Volkswagen Group Genuine Parts’. This new feature of AutoFlow 4:G – included in the 9.5 roll-out – will allow repairers to send and receive quotes digitally, order parts seamlessly from within the management system having already received validated part information and pricing; perhaps most importantly, the AutoFlow 4:G repairer will receive live part status updates including backorder statuses and ETA’s which will have an industry-wide benefit in courtesy car utilisation.
The proactive nature of this development means that communication between the AutoFlow 4:G Repairer and Vehicle Manufacturer is seamless and efficient; the information is in the right place, at the right time, so less time chasing for updates allowing repairers to get on with the job in hand.
Chris McKie, CEO ‘This is an immensely exciting project with a long-standing partner, a genuine leap in the efficiency of core processes. Critical in the removal of all party operational effort and several degrees of cost, whilst increasing service delivery. This is a big part of the jigsaw in the war on escalating repairer and supplier non-productive cost. Removing layers of admin duplications between VDA’s, parts departments and customer services, filling the gaps with synchronous updating and enhanced customer communications. It truly is the gift that keeps giving, increasing
satisfaction and reducing cost with the use of AutoFlow advanced system capabilities and by re-imagining the processes with better thinking and collaborations. Aligned to our recent announcements and the bi directional connectivity to the industry leading estimating systems, there will be a greatly reduced need for repairers to try and fill in the gaps in their processes with multiple system solutions and the extra cost and effort associated with these. This is not a clever PowerPoint, vapour wear or a build it and they will come exercise… It’s here now, it’s scalable, it will be deployable by repairer choice for all their customers through AutoFlow, not just Vizion, we believe firmly it’s another big step toward permanent improvement for everyone’
Exciting releases on the horizon include bidirectional connectivity with the estimating systems to reduce the operation friction and admin requirements – ensuring that there is a single source of truth from the management system to estimating system.
On top of this, the Arcus Total Loss Avoidance solution is truly ground-breaking – a transparent, fast, automated and intelligenceled process giving all parties all the information needed to make the right decision, at the right point, without the admin!
This development is the start of an exciting new era of direct connectivity with Vehicle Manufacturers. Watch this space for the industry leading initiatives that this system will deliver over the coming months and years.

INVOICING AND PAYMENT MANAGEMENT MADE EASY. INTRODUCING VIZION LENZ.
Linked dynamically and providing high degrees of automation, Lenz provides Vizion clients and repairers with a low to no-touch, highly transparent and super-efficient method to request, make and control payments. The system has been designed after lengthy consultations with bodyshops; built with the user in mind and using the same technology as our in-house systems, it is a revolution for repair invoicing across the network. It allows live visibility of claim details from multiple work providers such as excess values and VAT status, it also accommodates a wide range of invoicing scenarios that can be submitted automatically with the ability to manage user access for one or multiple sites and thus expediting the final step in the repair process i.e.getting paid!
As a direct result of our repairers asking for a more efficient invoicing solution, we are pleased to present this new facility, built to redefine invoicing and payment services. The feedback from initial users has been glowing, with speed, accuracy and ease of use being the common themes. With direct links to our claims system, there is minimal data entry required on each invoice with auto-populated fields, and an ability to compare to many key details for invoicing, live with our records prior to submission. Adopting a simple step-by-step approach and requiring only a copy of a collection note for submission, the burden of requesting payment for a job well done has become a thing of the past.
We have already received thousands of invoices with no-touch from submission to payment via Lenz
and this payment status can be seen live in Lenz once payment has been executed, improving communication, speed, and control for the user. Many of our new users have required no support to get up and running, bearing testament to the ease of use that the system has been designed by our experienced developers, however, there is a full suite of tutorials and guides readily available along with our Finance team on standby should a demonstration be preferred.
We are not looking to rest on our laurels for what had been designed so far, this is just the start, with future enhancements already in design. Downloadable statements for all invoices in-progress with Vizion and the ability to call down copies of remittances for those that have been paid are already in the pipeline.
3 Simple to use web-based system.
3 Ability to submit supplementary invoices for payment.
3 Quicker submission process, with less requirements. 5 simple steps to getting paid!
3 Upfront invoice verification, minimising rejections and removing the mystery of what happens when requesting payment.
3 Directly connected to Vizion’s Nucleus system, improving connectivity for both repairer and work provider alike.
3 Overall reduction in payment cycle times.

As part of Vizion’s DNA, Vizion are always looking for new ways to help our brand and repair network look at how we can all do more with systems and processes, constantly re-imagining to deliver applicable benefits, wider than Vizion, for a better industry, a better planet.
We know customers are looking for different solutions to mobility with reduced need, utilisation, working from home and a move to healthier options for travel. We want to use these conditions to drive positive change and provide options.
Re-imagining mobility, bringing alternatives to just supplying a car, which is becoming an outdated concept.
As part of our initiative, we are offering a service where we provide the option to plant a tree for our customers, instead of supplying a car, at participating collision centres and integrated into chosen client customer processes.
Since launching, customers truly embraced the Green Earth option with over 8000 trees planted, and
in 2023 this is set to increase at pace, with updated integration and increased awareness.
Vizion are also collaborating with ECA Business energy to provide a path for all repairers to Carbon Neutrality, integrating with our Vizion Standard accreditation to provide each repairer the support they need to achieve carbon-neutral status.
The energy crisis is affecting everyone, and to support our network, Vizion are working with insurers and suppliers to offer rebates and solutions to support the repairers through this crisis. This has now progressed another level with ECA offering support on reducing costs and help with your energy. Reducing parts spend is a key driver of working with the green transition, and one we will be strongly supporting you to achieve by partnered with Cornerstone Technologies to provide training to support, improve and increase repairer scope, safety, quality and efficiency of repair. Offering advanced non-structural training including plastic, push to paint, steel and aluminium as well as EV/Hybrid and ADAS accreditations.
THE COURTESY CAR INITIATIVE IS PART OF A MUCH WIDER CARBON REDUCTION PROGRAM, UNDER CONSTANT DEVELOPMENT. WE HAVE SOME CORE AND GUIDING PRINCIPLES THAT WILL BE PREDOMINANT IN OUR PLANNING:
To work with businesses and charities in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales to plant trees in the restoration of historic forests.
To proportionally represent effort and investment in each area of the UK and Ireland.
To work with ethical and auditable suppliers only, to ensure that planting is carried out correctly and maintained.
LAST YEAR VIZION ANNOUNCED A PLATINUM PARTNERSHIP WITH TREES FOR LIFE TO PROVIDE TREE PLANTING FOR THEIR GREEN EARTH INITIATIVE.
We expect this initiative to catalyse sustainability action by repairers, we continue to challenge ourselves with even more ambitious initiatives and targets included in our Green Earth strategy.
Greg Stansfield Group Services Director Vizion Network“A key part of our Green Earth Initiative is to focus on offsetting carbon with our courtesy car swap. We are thrilled to continue the success of our tree planting program by becoming a Platinum Partner of Trees for Life, who are doing some amazing work in the revitalisation of wild forests in the highlands.
Our mobility swap option has been an amazing success and continues to exceed expectations, becoming a Platinum Partner with Trees for Life is perfectly aligned to our sustainability strategy” – Chris McKie, Vizion’s Managing Director.
‘We are delighted that Vizion Network have joined us as Platinum Partner, making a clear commitment to rewilding. Their support will be vital as we continue in our ambitious projects, creating a flourishing space with benefits for all’ –Chris Alridge, Head of Fundraising and Engagement.
The announcement comes as the Green Earth Initiative expands its awareness and increases availability to customers, both with new insurers joining the scheme and by expanding the opportunities for the customer to get
involved during their repair journey. In addition to the mobility offset programme, Vizion is collaborating with key business’s providing repairers with the opportunity to lower the bodyshop’s carbon footprint and catalyse to sustainability.
“Vizion are excited to continue the next phase of our Green Earth strategy, as we partner with key suppliers, driving sustainability at scale, by not only ensuring that repairer processes are equitable and sustainable, but by also adding another quantified, verified impact that bodyshops can claim towards increasingly important sustainable offset credits.
“We expect this initiative to catalyse sustainability action by repairers, we continue to challenge ourselves with even more ambitious initiatives and targets included in our Green Earth strategy. The advancements we have made in just a short time inspire all of us to strive for more through our commitment to making a positive impact in the collision industry” – Greg Stansfield. Group Services Director.
VIZION ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT AXA INSURANCE WILL BE THE FIRST INSURER TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND SUPPORT PAS2060 ACCREDITATION AS PART OF THEIR CONTINUED DRIVE TO SUPPORT REPAIRERS IN DELIVERING CARBON REDUCTION.
The result is an additional supplement of £7.00 which will apply to all AXA repairs where the repair centre has achieved a PAS2060 accreditation.
Vizion are also exploring Science Based Targets (SBT) for emission reductions and welcome anyone who operates SBT to contact Vizion.
Vizion Network would like to take this opportunity to thank AXA for their continued support which enables Vizion to be the network of choice for our repairer and Insurer partners.
Vizion and ECA will proactively support you every step of the way of acheiving PAS2060
1. Assessment
The first stage of the process is to produce your carbon footprint.
2. Reduction
To achieve the PAS 2060 year-onyear, the subject of the PAS must achieve an emission’s reduction.
3. Offset
To become carbon-neutral in accordance with PAS2060, the carbon footprint must be offset annually.
4. Validate
Finally, ECA produce your Qualifying Explanatory Statement (QES).
To discuss Vizion’s PAS2060 support and accredation call Steve Silverwood on 01246 290 490. For more information on ECA Business Energy visit www.ecabusinessenergy.com.

THE SPIRALING COST OF ENERGY HAS MOTIVATED EVEN MORE BODYSHOPS TO IMPLEMENT WAYS OF REDUCING USAGE.
ECA Business Energy have helped over 400 bodyshops make savings.
They are now encouraging bodyshops to take advantage of a Desktop Energy Review. Reviews help identify wastage, assess current practices, compare performance between sites, and ultimately, reduce energy consumption and costs. ECA specialists compare energy consumption data with sector averages to identify waste and excessive use.
Bodyshops are asked to provide limited information including half hourly electricity and gas data, a description of operations on site, weekly opening hours, details of energy Intensive equipment, the floor area of the facility, and any energy audits or reports already undertaken.
ECA Business Energy Managing Director, Steve Silverwood, said: “Benchmarking helps our team discover if a bodyshop is using more energy than expected.
We can then suggest behavioural or operational procedure changes to minimise waste.”
He added: “Making simple changes such as turning off equipment rather than leaving equipment in standby mode can make a big difference.
The cheapest energy is the energy you don’t use. On average, our bodyshop clients have benefited from annual energy savings of 12%, following a review.”
If required, the Desktop Energy Review can be followed by a detailed site audit to discover exactly why energy usage spikes.
On completion of the review, ECA work with bodyshops to define short medium and long term ways to reduce energy consumption. All data can be monitored through the easy to use central hub – ECA Cloud.
To arrange your Desktop Energy Review please call Steve Silverwood on 01246 290 490. For more information on ECA Business Energy visit www.ecabusinessenergy.com

CYBER-ATTACKS ARE INCREASING SIGNIFICANTLY IN THE WAKE OF THE PANDEMIC ERA, WITH FRAUD, SOCIAL ENGINEERING ATTACKS, BLACKMAIL, AND EMAIL COMPROMISE PARTICULARLY HEIGHTENED.
Many bodyshops and businesses would potentially suffer numerous and substantial consequences from a successful attack or security event that could include breach of regulations and any resultant significant fines for loss of data, loss of confidential information, loss of key operational systems and a reduction in customer confidence.
The reputational impact from a cyber-attack can be very high with any loss of trust having significant business repercussions, particularly for those businesses with a high reliance on on-line presence for sales, distribution and/or back-office operations. This has also called attention to long-standing cyber security – as well as information security more broadly – challenges facing many organisations, particularly in relation to their capability across various domains to prevent, detect,
mitigate, and respond effectively to a significant cyber incident.
In 2018, Vizion with the support and partnership of leading insurers, created a Client Advisory Group with focus on data protection, information security, governance, and now climate change.
Our solution was the Vizion Standard, that set the standard in GDPR, digital compliance and environmental awareness in the automotive industry, ensuring peace of mind for all our customers.
Joining us at Kinetic is Shaun Peapell, security expert from Rootshell Security who will be sharing insights into security, and on day 2, looking at car security vulnerabilities.
SETTING THE STANDARD IN GDPR, DIGITAL COMPLIANCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY, ENSURING PEACE OF MIND FOR ALL OUR CUSTOMERS.
The Vizion Standard is part of our commitment to the customer. Assurance that we, our clients and our repairer partners, consider their privacy and data protection as a critical part of the customer experience.
The protection of customer data is an essential and important part of the Vizion strategic move to prioritise insurer and customer concerns.

This attack resulted in a data breach that left customers’ personal data vulnerable to hackers. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the end of it – the hackers then proceeded to blackmail them, demanding payment in exchange for not releasing customer information onto the dark web. Let’s take a closer look at how this happened and what steps can be taken to prevent similar attacks from happening in the future.
The security breach occurred when a hacker gained access to the company’s system through an unsecured server. The hacker was then able to gain access to sensitive customer data such as names, addresses, phone numbers, and banking details. Once they had this data, they were able to use it to threaten the dealership with blackmail. They demanded money in exchange for not releasing customer information onto the dark web or selling it on the black market.
It is essential for businesses of all sizes—especially those with large amounts of customer data—to have robust security measures in place so that they can remain protected against cyber attacks. Firstly, companies should ensure that their servers are secure
and up-to-date with all necessary patches and updates applied regularly. In addition, strong passwords should be used by staff members who have access to sensitive information, and two-factor authentication should be employed whenever possible. Finally, companies should invest in anti-virus software and firewalls which can help protect against malicious attacks from hackers looking to steal data or disrupt operations.
The Mail on Sunday uncovered a malicious hacking ring that has become increasingly powerful due to the havoc wreaked in Latin America, culminating with an invasion of the website belonging to the dealership. The companies recent experience with hackers is an unfortunate reminder of how vulnerable we are online today.
We must remain vigilant when it comes to protecting our systems and personal data from malicious actors who seek only financial gain at our expense.
By taking proactive steps such as ensuring servers are secure and investing in anti-virus software and firewalls, companies can help protect themselves from these kinds of attacks. If you’re concerned about your business’s online security, contact an experienced IT professional for advice on how best to protect yourself.

DURING NOVEMBER 2022 AND JANUARY 2023, 15 MEMBERS OF VIZION STAFF ATTENDED TRAINING AT CENTRAL BEDS COLLEGE WITH CORNERSTONE TO GET SOME OVERSIGHT INTO THE TRAINING AVAILABLE AND SOME VALUABLE HANDS ON EXPERIENCE OF REPAIR TECHNIQUES.
The two groups including all staff from the Network, Regional and National Account Management teams were given a crash course in the complexities of plastic, steel and aluminium theory. They were introduced to methods of identifying materials correctly, understanding what is safe and viable to repair and selecting the best tool to suit the damage.
The teams got to experience hands on how to carry out tasks including plastic welding, push to paint, glue pulling and even got to play with a DoDa Bar (Yes, that is a thing!)
Juliet Scott, Network Manager, said: “We spent two fantastic days with the Cornerstone team in Bedfordshire, learning from the
best. The knowledge and skills of their trainers is second to none.
We gained a fantastic insight into the incredible skill and attention to detail required by technicians to facilitate these safe, sustainable, and cost-effective repairs. It was clear that there is money to be made by repairing these parts that would traditionally be thrown in the skip.
We would recommend all Repairers take a look at the wide variety of courses available from Cornerstone. If you are interested in the training but not quite ready to commit, then we would encourage you to attend one of the upcoming Cornerstone open days to find out more.”
We are today the UK’s largest independent bodyshop refinish paint supplier.
Our training centre, pictured right, in Coventry offers IMI Accreditations in Senior Paint, Paint, Cosmetic and ReAccreditations, as well as IMI Professional Achievement Certificate courses in scuff and scratch, alloy wheel, glass repair, PDR and also detailing with our sister company Slim’s Detailing. We have continuously supported the IMI Skills Competition, Worldskills since 2011 and continue to look for ways to encourage new staff to join our fantastic industry.

SECURITY STANDARD CERTIFICATION DEMONSTRATING THE COMPANY’S ONGOING COMMITMENT TO INFORMATION SECURITY.
“ISO27001 certification helps us to demonstrate our commitment to keeping our customers’ data safe,” said Mak, Vizion’s Infrastructure and Cloud Architect. “It is the culmination of many months of effort across the business, which in turn builds upon our years of experience with information security.”
The holistic approach of ISO/IEC 27001 means that the entire organisation, not just IT, is covered resulting in benefits to people, technology and processes. By gaining this certification, Vizion demonstrates to its clients and customers that it is committed to managing information securely and safely.
The World Economic Forum’s Global Cybersecurity Outlook report indicates that cyber-attacks increased 125 % globally, with evidence suggesting a continued uptick into the future. The new and improved version of ISO/IEC 27001 addresses global cybersecurity challenges and digital trust by helping organisations secure their information assets.
As the world’s best-known standard on information security management. ISO/IEC 27001 helps organisations secure their information assets which is crucial in today’s increasingly digital world.

WAY BACK IN JANUARY 2022, THE HULL OFFICE DECIDED ON THEIR CHARITY OF THE YEAR, ANDY'S MAN CLUB.
Andy's Man Club are a men's suicide prevention charity, offering free-to-attend, peer-to-peer support groups across the UK. Their number one goal is to end the stigma surrounding men's mental health and help men through the power of conversation.
The Social events Team of 2022 did an outstanding job of organising Events across the Year in aid of Andy's Man Club, from bake sale, to raffles, to sponsored walks.
We have finally counted up all the monies raised in 2022 for this incredible charity, and a massive total of:
£2,875.27
We cannot thank the Vizion staff enough for participating in the events to help us raise this incredible amount.
At ANDYSMANCLUB, we want to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and create a judgment-free, confidential space where men can be open about the storms in their lives. We aim to achieve this through weekly, free-toattend peer-to-peer support groups for men aged over 18. Watch the video below to find out why.
ANDYSMANCLUB has over 100 free support groups nationwide, running every Monday from 7PM except bank holidays. In these groups, men can open up about the storms affecting their lives in a safe, judgement-free and non-clinical environment. Our clubs are designed to be free of pressure, there is no obligation for men to speak, they can simply listen if they wish.
With over 1800 men using our sessions every week, and an army of 500 volunteers on board, the movement is continuing to grow week-byweek. We firmly believe in the power of talking and that #ItsOkayToTalk.
#ThatOneMan is our promise to you, our volunteers, our attendees and our supporters, that no matter how quickly we grow, how many awards we win, how many partnerships we strike up or how many clubs we open, we will always remain true to our original goal. To be able to provide support to #ThatOneMan in his time of need, and help him see that his tomorrow can be better than his today.
You can contact us about anything and we’ll do our upmost to help you any way we can. Please note, we’re not a 24/7 service and we are unable to make phone calls to people in need of support.

It is a truly global model, engineered to sell in all major markets around the world. Acting as a catalyst to further enhance brand awareness globally, it’s spearheading the repositioning and expansion of the Lotus retail network ahead of the arrival of a family of new vehicles.
Pronounced ‘Eh-meer-ah’, the word features in numerous ancient languages and often translates as ‘commander’ or ‘leader’. It’s highly appropriate as this is the exciting new sports car leading Lotus’ last hurrah with internal combustion engines, before fully embracing electrification and a new era for the brand later in the decade.
The Emira is the first Lotus sports car to carry the new design language first showcased on the awardwinning Evija hypercar. It’s a contemporary look with sculpted surfaces and technical detailing, delivering exotic supercar appeal in the sports car segment. A new and more premium approach for Lotus in terms of forms and materials, it is also a leap forward in fit and finish.
Led by Russell Carr, Design Director, Lotus, the creative team has succeeded in designing something beautiful, timeless, memorable, modern and that looks like a Lotus. Its optimised proportions and athletic shrink-wrapped body visually describe Lotus’ legendary agile driving characteristics.
Russell commented: “The Emira captures the visual drama of an exotic supercar, with great proportions, wide footprint and a cabin that sits low down between muscular haunches. Add in that it’s practical enough to be useable every day, of the highest quality and accessibly priced, and it’s undoubtedly a compelling and seductive alternative to the existing sports car competition. The Emira is re-introducing our brand to a new global audience while still offering all the thrills to engage the most ardent driving enthusiast.”
The influence of the Lotus Evija is plain to see through the fluid surfaces and crisp feature lines. The lineage is even more obvious on the prominent leading edge of the bonnet, shrink-wrapped cabin that’s tapered to the rear, sculpted doors and vents cut into the muscular rear haunches. The unique-inclass exit vents, integrated into the bonnet to guide airflow over the car and optimise aerodynamics, are also derived from the Evija.
Efficient aerodynamics has been at the heart of the Lotus brand since the company was founded in 1948. It is a philosophy inextricably linked to delivering outstanding performance whether a car is on the road or race track. Simplicity is at the core of the Emira – there are no active aerodynamics as clever engineering means they’re not needed. It is the only model in its class to create passive downforce that’s precisely balanced between the front and rear axles at all speeds, perfectly tuned to the weight distribution and suspension geometry of the car. It means as downforce increases with speed, generating exceptional grip through corners, the handling characteristics remain constant, precise and predictable.

Add in that it’s practical enough to be useable every day, of the highest quality and accessibly priced, and it’s undoubtedly a compelling and seductive alternative to the existing sports car competition.
Russell Carr Design Director, Lotus,TOYOTA’S APPROACH TO CARBON NEUTRALITY IS TO DEVELOP AND OFFER MULTIPLE TECHNOLOGIES TO SUPPORT WIDELY VARYING CUSTOMER NEEDS AND MARKET ENVIRONMENTS AROUND THE WORLD.
This multi-technology approach, which includes battery electric and fuel cell electric and plug-in hybrid electric and hybrid electric vehicles, is witnessed in the company’s development of a new car powered by a hydrogen combustion engine.
Toyota and Lexus firmly believes it is too early to focus on a single zero emission solution and is therefore concurrently developing hydrogen fuel cell and hydrogen combustion technology alongside battery electric technology. Today’s announcement follows previous confirmation that Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK (TMUK) will lead a consortium developing a hydrogen fuel cell version of the worldfamous Hilux pick-up at its Burnaston car plant in Derbyshire.
Toyota and Lexus will be presenting its multi-technology approach to cleaner mobility at Kinetic in March.
It has the potential to deliver zero carbon mobility, not just in road vehicles but equally in trains, ships and planes, and to generate power for industry, businesses and homes. It’s also an efficient means of storing renewable energy and can be transported to where it’s needed.
Toyota began development of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles in 1992, successfully introducing the Mirai saloon to world markets from 2014. This breakthrough achievement was founded on the company’s worldleading experience in hybrid, the core technology for a wide range of different electrified vehicle powertrains.
The basic concept of hybrid power has successfully been adapted to produce hybrid electric (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV), battery electric (BEV) and – starting with Mirai – fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV). Each has qualities suited to different mobility requirements: for
example, BEVs for shorter commutes and urban driving; HEVs and PHEVs for general and longer distance personal travel; and FCEVs for larger passenger cars, heavy-duty vehicles and public transport.
In 25 years of mass production, Toyota has sold more than 21 million electrified vehicles worldwide, bringing the technology to the mainstream and helping save millions of tonnes of carbon emissions.
The new generation Mirai is a car that takes FCEV technology to a higher level and offers more emotional customer appeal in terms of dynamic, contemporary styling and more rewarding driving performance. A comprehensively redesigned fuel cell system, intelligent packaging and aerodynamic efficiency help extend the driving range to around 400 miles, with no emissions other than pure water.
Water is the only vehicle emission during driving
Refuelling in around five minutes and a driving range of around 300 miles on a full tank
Powered by electricity generated on-board using hydrogen fuel

It started out with the first match taking place at Norwich City’s stadium, Carrow Road in 2014. Since then, the annual matches have taken place three times now in Norwich and the same number of times at Peterborough United’s, London Road ground.
In between, the games have also travelled to MK Dons and Wolverhampton Wanderers, Molineux. Although when the team played at the latter venue, and then Carrow Road a week later, it proved too be a game too far for some of the more mature players!
Since its creation, the games have so far raised £71,500 for various charities. They normally consist of two teams, Plunkys All Stars CF versus the FLK Mercenaries FC with teams made up from various friends and associates that Steve has got to know over the years, some mates from back home still also take part with the age group ranging from 18 to 65 years old, but now people come from far and wide to take part, paying for the privilege to play in the game that has now become something of staple event in the industry calendar. Players that most recently took part in the last years game are given the first opportunity to play when a New Year comes round and it’s time for them to pay their match fees. And then it’s the turn of anyone that has played in previous years to be invited and then finally if there are still spaces left it is thrown open to the waiting list.
The game is consistently lively and competitive but always of a good nature, with everyone keen to enjoy the experience of playing at a professional ground and help to raise lots of money in the process. Most players will have done the extra training to ensure that they can comfortably last their allocated forty-five- or ninetyminutes slot, but some will have not!
Steve said, “Thankfully every year we have such a good time on and off of the pitch pre- and post-match, having a good close match, raising lots of money in the process for some very worthwhile causes, and most of the players tend to come back each year. Last year we raised the most yet from one single game, £17,500 for Brain Tumour Research. Many of you will have come across Mike Yorke, the Managing Director of Outsorc, well we did that one to let him know that we were right behind him as he fought his long battle his own tumour. I know that it meant an awful lot to him at the time, that everyone got behind him and such a great charity. Sadly, Mike passed away in December and he is really missed very much by all of his family and many friends. I know that he will also be very pleased that we are doing this year’s match in his honour, he played in all of the games apart from the one last year and he will be so missed on the night by the players as many of them knew him from the industry or from playing in the games over the years. He was a decent player, let me
tell you that had trials with Southampton, Wolves and Aston Villa in his younger days, he was very competitive too and a big Everton fan at that, he really loved his football. We will do a minute’s silence for him before kick-off and then look to retire his number six shirt out of respect and as a deserving tribute to a very dear friend. I’ll make sure that his Grandson’s receive it postmatch as I know that they would like that very much. I am sure that he would’ve like that gesture too”.
He added, “In 2022 we had our first female player take part. Rachael Pearson (ex-Leeds United Ladies FC) of Modern Insurance Magazine and she equipped herself extremely well down the right hand side of the pitch, where she shared the right back slot over ninety minutes with Peter Weddle of Gillibrand’s (Blackburn). This year we will also have Jodie Hopkins of the Kings Lynn Ladies FC playing in the opposite team, she is the team captain there.
For this year, we may well be back at Peterborough United, or we may even play at The Walks, which is the home of Kings Lynn Town, where I do the stadium announcing on a match day. At the time of writing this article, it’s just a little too early to confirm the details, so do keep a look out on social media and through the various industry publications for further details.
I’d like to thank Chris, Eamonn, Marcus and Jules of Vizion and White Room Consortium for giving me some
space in the magazine to talk about PAS and also for their magnificent and ongoing support of our event each year. It is always fully appreciated and never taken for granted. We are so lucky to have so many kind and generous supporters that are very quick to dig deep each year, no matter who we are raising funds for. Thank you to you all, you’re all superstars.
So, this year we are raising some much-needed money for The Norfolk Hospice ‘Tapping House’. It’s the same charity that I raised money for last year when I ran the London Marathon, they do such amazing work and I was blown away by the commitment of all of the staff and volunteers, so I decided that I wanted to continue to do more for them in 2023”.
The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House are a charity based in West Norfolk providing care and support to those living with or affected by life limiting illness.
Life limiting illness doesn’t just affect the person who receives the diagnosis. It affects those closest to them too; both family and friends and charities like The Norfolk Hospice are invaluable.
Established almost forty years ago now, The Norfolk Hospice have always had a very clear vision – to offer support, guidance and choice together with excellent end of life and bereavement care to those who need it, and they do so free of charge.
Plunkys All Stars has various sponsorship packages available and is already taking donations, hoping to beat last year’s amount. Steve is also looking for raffle and auction prizes for the post-match celebrations. www.justgiving.com/fundraising/plunkysallstars2023

PURE VISUAL COMMUNICATION, VIZION’S BRAND AND CREATIVE PARTNER, EMBRACED THE CHALLENGE THAT VIZION SET THEMSELVES...BE DIFFERENT, BE CHALLENGING, BE INNOVATIVE, AND APPLIED THAT TO THE CREATIVE OF VIZION MARKETING AND THE EVENT.
A strong brand like Vizion’s have values and have taken the time to define and communicate what they believe in, stand for and aspire to be. An event like Kinetic is the chance to get back to the heart of the network whilst, welcoming new faces and new possibilities.
“It was important to treat the event as you would a brand or a logo, developing it over 8 months to co-exist with the theme and the content, to create an instantly recognisable design encompassing the values of Vizion and what the events aims and aspirations, combining ‘Kinetic’ with automotive, the solution was obvious” Marcus explained. Creating a virtual environment to show a futuristic bodyshop, allowed us to be creative and set our own limits and ensure the level of detail on the screens was accurate.
The benefit of creating original content in 3D is that you not bound by stock images, and the restraints of reality, you also have the opportunity to offer more variables and perspectives by using different camera angles and views.’
Family run, approachable and diversely talented, Marcus and Jules work together on every project they undertake to ensure that all their clients benefit from their wide range of perspectives and experiences.
Pure have been part of the automotive industry for over 20 years, working with dealerships, manufacturers over the last 12 years, an intergral part of the collision industry both developing systems, marketing, events and creative design.

ROCKETED AS INDIVIDUALS LOOKED FOR WAYS TO FILL UP THEIR FREE TIME AND CONNECT WITH OTHERS. HOWEVER, THIS PEAK IN USERS HAS SEEN AN INTERESTING SHIFT SINCE LOCK-DOWNS BEGAN TO EASE.
According to a report by Global Web Index, since 2020, there’s been a 12% increase in individuals saying they use social media less than they used to.
Interestingly, Gen Z is the most concerned about time spent on social media, compared to other generations. They’re also more likely to use social media less than they may have previously. In 2023, experts suggest that it’s likely see an even bigger increase in users opting to avoid social media, or who actively monitor their social media usage.
A Brand-watch Consumer Research report dived deeper into the conversation online about people deciding to leave social media. Between January and October 2022, interestingly, 53% of emotion- categorized mentions about wanting to leave social media were categorized as sad. Anger was the second most prevalent emotion, at 27% of emotion-categorized mentions.
Focus on keeping the attention of your audience. Companies who do this will make the most of their limited time with audiences on social media. Provide true value via your content, to make a stronger impact on their audience. Be creative and look at the content and images used. Always ensure you are using vehicle brand approved images, avoid using brand logos unless
from a approved resource and use licensed stock images to reduce possible copyright infringement
Shift your focus to account for mental health within your social strategy. Encouraging consumers to have a healthy relationship with their social usage can help create a safe space for when they are ready to return to the platform. Equally, consumers are likely to associate your content with a positive message, which reflects well on your brand.
In some cases, less really is more. There’s a great deal of pressure to constantly increase output — with the hypothesis that more posts, videos, or tweets will directly equal more engagement and a larger following. While constantly increasing content may work for some companies, most will see a decrease in quality at a certain point.
Make content interesting, there are only so many times you can mention your approved - look at how you can do this differently and don’t just post something because you think you have to maintain a quality threshold.
