DRIVING PROFIT BACK INTO YOUR BODYSHOP
from Vizion Focus
SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN 2015, CORNERSTONE’S RISE HAS BEEN SIGNIFICANT. FROM ITS HUMBLE BEGINNINGS, CORNERSTONE NOW WORKS WITH SOME OF THE LARGEST, MOST INFLUENTIAL BODYSHOP GROUPS, ACCIDENT MANAGEMENT COMPANIES AND INSURERS IN THE INDUSTRY.
As the vehicles have evolved, so too have the courses and content we deliver. It is essential that we keep technicians up to date with any changes to ensure they continue to repair vehicles safely

Their training programmes have evolved year on year and now include the industry’s most comprehensive selection of non-structural training available.
With the current challenges now facing the industry, Cornerstone’s training techniques and processes have never been more relevant. Parts prices and availability, staff and inflation, to name a few, have led numerous bodyshops to seriously consider how to improve their financial profile.
Cornerstone play a major part in that decision.
Tony Ward (MD), passionately recounts, “From my early accident management days of running in and out of bodyshops 5 days a week, my heart has always been in the bodyshop. When we started Cornerstone the vision was clear. To improve the knowledge and skill sets of engineers, VDA’s and technicians to support them to safely repair more parts and improve their profitability. Without profitable bodyshops, we do not have an industry!!!
On average, Cornerstone profess to train your technicians to repair a minimum of 1 more extra part per day following training. This leads to some notable improvements in cash flow and bottomline profit, as well as more recently, helping with the significant parts availability issue.
The need for training in general has been accelerated by the variety of materials on modern vehicles, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and even the way our vehicles are powered. All of the above have added to the complexity of vehicle repair and Cornerstone are continually adapting their course content accordingly.
Lee Caswell (Technical Director) says, “As the vehicles have evolved, so too have the courses and content we deliver. It is essential that we keep technicians up to date with any changes to ensure they continue to repair vehicles safely. One example would be our glue pulling and push to paint training which is removing the need to add heat to panels, improving the speed of repair and reducing material costs, as well as not having to power down electric vehicles.”
The benefits don’t stop there. In addition to the safety and profitability benefits,
Cornerstone are having a huge impact on the industry’s Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG). By repairing more parts, the obvious by-product is that less parts are required.
With an average annual Carbon reduction of 7.5 tonnes of CO2 per trained bodyshop, it’s clear to see why Cornerstone are in demand from all sectors of the industry.
In summary, with so many solutions to the challenges the industry is facing, it’s clear that Cornerstone are perfectly positioned to support the safety, profitability and sustainability of both the bodyshop and the industry as a whole.
Tony Ward continues, “Over the past 7 years, we have made some significant progress. By bringing Insurers and bodyshops closer together we are seeing a much more joined up, trusted approach to vehicle repair. Bodyshops need to have the right level of training, tooling and consumables to be able to safely carry out repairs on modern vehicles and, similarly, Insurers need to motivate the bodyshops to continue to focus on repair over replace. If we get that right, everyone wins!!!”
CORNERSTONE TECHNOLOGIES LTD HAVE ESTABLISHED THEMSELVES AS THE MARKET LEADER IN DELIVERING ADVANCED NON-STRUCTURAL TRAINING PROGRAMMES.
Focussing primarily on plastic, push to paint, steel and aluminium, Cornerstone have a proven track record in supporting bodyshops by increasing and improving their scope, safety, quality, efficiency and profitability of repair.
This, in turn, reduces average repair costs, improves key to key times and positively improves the environmental impact by significantly reducing the need for parts as well as extraction, assembly, deliveries, waste, landfill and carbon emissions.
