Roosterettes called the shots in 28-6 win over Coonamble The Cobar Roosterettes called nearly all field position for most of the match which constantly kept the ball in Coonamble’s half the shots in their Round 10 Castlereagh helped them to finish with a comprehensive and relentlessly attacked their try line. League Tag game against Coonamble on 28-6 win over the visitors. Cobar eventually found a gap out wide and Saturday at Tom Knight Memorial Oval. To their credit, Coonamble defended well Georgia Boland crossed next to the corner The Roosterettes dominated possession and for the first 15 minutes of play when Cobar post to score the Roosterettes’ first points to give Cobar a 4-0 lead. Coonamble scored immediately after. (It was the first time they had ventured into Cobar’s half.) Coonamble’s No 8 Thelma Leonard sent a grubber kick through close to the line and recovered the ball over the line to score next to the posts. It made for an easy conversion for Katina Darcy which gave Coonamble a narrow 6-4 lead. Shortly after Cobar was back in control when quick hands on the line out to Taylah Good saw Cobar cross on the right wing. Brianna Watson failed to nail the tricky sideline conversion, but Cobar was back in front at 8-6 and they took that narrow lead into the half time break. Watson opened the scoring soon after the re -start and also converted her try. Soon after Molly Carter found space on the left hand side of the field to cross untouched for her first try of the season which was well celebrated by her team mates. Watson scored again in the late stages of the game after combining with her captain/coach Kayla Hasson. Hasson broke through the Coonamble deRoosterettes’ Georgia Boland (with the ball) on the way to the try line in Saturday’s fence on the halfway mark and raced away with Watson in support. Hasson drew the Coonamble fullback defender before passing off to Watson who acPh: 6836 2725 celerated and scored underneath the posts. 6 Barton St Watson’s successful conversion then gave Cobar plenty of breathing room with the score now at 24-6. The Roosterettes kept hitting Coonamble’s left side, which proved to be vulnerable. Sarah Morley dived over for the final try of the game with just three minutes left on the clock. With another sideline conversion needed to be kicked, Watson decided to hand over the kicking duties to Morley, however Morley was also unable to convert from that distance either but Cobar finished with a good 28-6 win. Meals served Billson’s New Flavours Cobar’s strong defence was again headed up Monday - Saturday by sisters Neve and Molly Carter who had a high work-rate all game, along with dummy Lunch 12pm-2pm half Jezebel Hitchins. Hasson and Morley (playing at fullback) also had big games, with the pair providing Dinner 5.30pm-8.30pm Cobar with an impenetrable second line of defence. Saturday’s win also improved the RoosterCall in for a ettes standing on the competition ladder. Cobar is now outright third with 24 points, counter meal! just behind Narromine on 25 and Dunedoo on GOAT Ginger Beer 33. limited stock The Roosterettes will now be on the road each week for the remainder of the competition. This Saturday they head to Baradine which should be a close match, but if Cobar maintains their current good form they should come home with a win.
