Haines heads up local car club
from TCW 190723
Mick Haines was re-elected for the 11th time as president of the Cobar Dustbowl Fuel Burners club at the group’s annual general meeting last week.

Mick has held the president’s role since the car and motorbike enthusiasts’ club was first formed in 2013.

Also returned at last week’s meeting were Doug Rourke (vice president), Marie Lawrence (secretary) and Cathy Francisco (publicity officer). Michelle Deppeler has taken on the treasurer’s role and Neisha Lehmann is the club’s new registrar.

Publicity officer Cathy Francisco said the club was originally formed so that people who had an interest in cars and motorbikes could get together socially.
The club has continued to grow and we welcome anyone who has an interest in cars and motorbikes, and not just old ones.

Mick Haines puts a lot of time and effort into the club including going away to meetings about historic vehicle registrations and the rules and regulations regarding this,” Cathy reported.
In addition to the club holding a Coffee and Cars catch up each month, the group has a busy calendar of events planned for the remainder of the year.

Their next event, at the end of the month, is a Poker Run.
“This will be a fun event where we leave Cobar and drive to Byrock, then Girilambone, Hermidale and back home to Cobar.
“This will also be an observation run where participants will have questions to answer along the way. They can also theme their car or bike and dress up with heaps of prizes to give away on the day.
Everyone is welcome with any type of car or motorbike.”
