TAFE invites local young people to have their say

Cobar TAFE NSW, in conjunction with the Advocate for Children and Young People, is hosting a forum next month to discuss the rising costs of living and how that’s affecting young people.

The forum will be headed up by Zoë Robinson, the NSW Advocate for Children and Young People.

In her role as the Advocate, Ms Robinson is independent from the government and works to improve the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all children and young people in NSW.

The Advocate speaks up for children and young people to ensure that their rights are respected and their points of view are heard by adult decision makers.

From time to time the Advocate organises forums to bring people together to discuss a particular topic or to share ideas relating to issues affecting children and young people in NSW.

Cobar TAFE Services coordinator Claudine Griffiths is encouraging local youth aged 15 to 24 to go along and have their say.

“There are only a couple of these forums being held around the state, and Cobar is lucky enough to host one,” Claudine said.

Claudine has also appealed to any local businesses who employ young people aged 15 to 24, to allow them to go along (or join via a Teams call) and share their experiences and concerns about the cost of living in NSW, and its impact on their lives.
