Fast5 netball grand final was won in the last quarter
from TCW 190423

After finishing the 2023 Fast5 regular netball competition as the minor premiers, Mixed & Matched went on to win the grand final which was played on April 4 at the Ward Oval netball courts.

Mixed & Matched came up against some very worthy rivals in the Fast Fobs side who, were the only side this season to have beaten the strong Mixed & Matched team.
The grand final game started as all good grand finals should with the scores even at the first break.
There still wasn’t much the difference at half time with Mixed & Matched narrowly ahead 18-16.
Fast Fobs made up some ground in the third quarter when they elected to use their Power Play option (where all points are doubled during the quarter) but Mixed & Matched continued to hold the upper hand and by the end of the quarter they were still in front, by just one point, 27-26.
Mixed & Matched however still had their Power Play ace up their sleeve and they used it well to outpoint Fast Fobs 12 points to five in the final quarter which saw them finish with a 39-31 win.
Mixed & Matched were well served by their shooters, Lauren Urquhart, Ryan Urquhart, Jaxon Burke and Neve Carter.
There was a great match up between the two centres, Brianna Watson for Mixed & Matched and Fast Fobs’ Loma Atuau.
Both sides also had some very good defenders in Josh Vaka (Fast Fobs) and Ben Griffiths (Mixed & Matched).
Jayden Paul (Fast Fobs), Nick Short (Watch & Learn) and Ryan Urquhart (Mixed & Matched) all tied for the title of ‘Favourite Fiver’ of the season.
Mixed & Matched claimed the 2023 title recently when they won their grand final beating Fast Fobs 39-31. ▪ Photo contributed
