Extra ends needed to find the winners

In a recent Championships Pairs bowls game played at the Golfie, Dean ‘Bogger’ McLeod and Jason Howell won their match by +1 against Alan Knight and Greg Read.

The game was so tight that they had to play an extra end to decide the winner!

In the Singles competition, Tony Polack finished with a +3 win in his match with Stewart Simpson.

The scorecard showed neither were ever going to concede defeat and it took 32 gruelling ends before the game was finally decided in Polack’s favour.

There was a huge upset in the Triples competition with bowls old hands Don Roberts, Kyle Roberts and Barry Bargwanna suffering a loss to the converted golfers, Alec Fraser, Mark Fraser and Jay Egan, who took the match by a +2 margin. The decider once again came down to an extra end!

The game’s spectators were utterly and totally engaged and it’s reported the greens have never been so intensely quiet!

In social bowls news from Sunday, David Ooze’ Knight and Peter ‘Skeet’ Goonrey finished with a big +18 win over John ‘Shark’ Daly and Peter ‘China’ Brien.
