ENFUSION CHOIR At the Aero Club on the weekend of the 9 and 10 June the choir EnFusion performed their summer concert entitled ‘Nostalgia’ including iconic songs from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Amongst a couple of Beatles numbers, there were reminders of The Three Degrees, Abba, Roy Orbison, Perry Como, The Mamas and the Papas, Bobby Darin, to name but a few and, importantly, the Queen of rock and roll, Tina Turner... a tribute to her having been including in the eclectic mix just recently. We hope we did her and the others the justice their incredible talents deserve. An audience of 90 plus attended on each night and fun was had by all. The EnFusion choir was formed over 10 years ago. We are a happy, informal and democratic choir and we meet Tuesdays at 4pm and Fridays at 10.30am for practicing at the Aero Club. This will re-start in September after our summer break. Do come along, listen to us and maybe think about joining a happy band of like minded folk who simply love to sing. Please look out for further announcements in Roqueta for the start date of practices for our Christmas concert.

CHARITY CRICKET AND GOLF Many famous cricketers came to Menorca to support a two-day cricket and golf event to raise money for charity. The cricketers joined local players in an excellent game with some outstanding performances for a worthy cause, the JP21 Foundation. These photos show what a wonderful day was had by all in attendance. Tim Hayden, the organiser from Hagley West, said ‘Last year I had a conversation with JP Duminy about putting on a charity cricket match… and it happened! It was unbelievable that these legends came out to support our dream and help raise funds for the JP 21 Foundation. To see Gladstone Small, Monty Panesar, Owais Shah, John Embury and JP playing at Menorca Cricket Club was incredible, a day all of us here won’t forget” The JP21 FOUNDATION is dedicated to revitalizing the game of cricket in underdeveloped communities, where there is gang violence and substance abuse. Through their programs, they make cricket accessible to all learners and allow children to dream. In addition, they promote healthy lifestyle living and importantly creating a spirited environment. The benefit of sport encourages boys and girls to stay in school, improve discipline and respect their peers. The dry wit of Gladstone Small on the microphone kept the onlookers entertained. Little did he know that he was sitting under the nutcrackers sign with Alison Truelove. After a dinner in S’Algar the next venue was Son Park Golf.
OUT N ABOUT THE PORT The once iconic floating terrace of restaurant La Minerva is no more. On 20th June local workers and divers removed the last of the floating pontoon and unceremoniously towed it down the port! Leaving nothing but the echo of lunches and dinners past from the many revellers who frequented this unique eating place. Also spotted the same day, Solar Panels being installed on the frameworks that have appeared along the port. Many of the car parks in Menorca have now been covered with solar panels, including a large installation at the hospital. Solar car parks enable electricity production in open spaces in urban areas and have the added benefit of shading the cars from the sun.
