Our founder believed in a simple, honest premise: The best grapes make the best wines. Today, this legacy continues at the historic winery in the Napa Valley with an acclaimed collection of unforgettable Cabernet Sauvignon wines.

Vinicultural Notes

After early morning harvesting, the grapes were gently destemmed and put into upright tanks to cold soak for up to three days. To further extract flavor and varietal character, the wine was given pump-overs three times a day and kept on skins an extra 15 to 20 days of maceration time. The wine was then transferred to a combination of French (40% new) and American (3% new) oak barrels for a period of 18 months.

Winemaker Notes

Nearly all the fruit for this wine originated from our estate vineyards in Napa Valley with a small percentage from Sonoma County. Vintage 2019 was near perfect with early rain, a dry winter and fogshrouded mornings over a long, warm summer. The fruit arrived in pristine condition with vibrant color, soft tannins and bright acidity.

Wine Profile

Classic and well-structured, our Cabernet Sauvignon brims with soft and approachable notes of black plum and wisps of fennel on the nose. Layers of dark cherry and cassis are unscored by hints of black licorice and a gravelly earthiness. The oak is well-integrated, imparting notes of sweet aromatics, resin and a bit of torn mint on the long finish. Serve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with all manner of grilled steak, juicy burgers and Portobello mushrooms.

“I was the first to produce varietals in quantity. Nobody else did. And I put the vintage on. Each year’s crop is different; if a person buys one and likes it and comes back for it, that avoids a mix up…”
