Counseling

At Presentation, students are not just prepared for college; they’re prepared for life. In partnership with families, our devoted, nurturing counselors empower students to reach their academic and personal goals. The Presentation Counseling department offers a range of services to all students and their parents.

Class Level Counselors

Each class level is assigned its own counselor, each of whom has master’s degree-level training. To foster strong relationships with students, each counselor remains with their class level all four years of high school. Counselors initiate appointments with each student at least once per semester and are available as needed for student-initiated appointments. Should a student require more than two or three consecutive appointments, the counselor will refer her to an off-site counselor. Topics discussed during individual meetings may include: family, friends, activities, faith life, extracurriculars on and off campus, classes, general wellness, physical health and future plans.

Faculty Mentors

From a student’s first day at Presentation until her graduation, she is assigned a faculty mentor who acts as an academic advisor. Students meet with their mentors in groups twice a week in the fall and three times a week in the spring. Each student has an individual appointment with her mentor once per semester.

Career Exploration Office

Our Career Exploration Office, or “CEO,” helps students identify potential careers, college majors and college choices. CEO incorporates real world experiences into the classroom learning process through guest speakers, career days, job shadowing and internships with local companies.

Individualized Academic Support

Presentation is committed to setting students up for success. As a result, our Counseling Department offers a variety of resources to support student learning and development. • Study Center: By offering goal-setting strategies, homework help and study skills sessions, the Study Center provides personalized academic guidance and support for students. • Learning Specialist: The Learning Specialist helps students with learning differences learn skills and implement strategies to improve their academic performance. The learning specialist also arranges reasonable accommodations to allow students to do their best work.

Student Wellness

The Student Wellness (SWell) program offers workshops, tools and recommendations to students and families, as students find their authentic selves and strengthen social emotional skills. SWell emphasizes practice and patience to help students prioritize their well-being and manage their busy life, and begin a lifelong commitment towards personal growth.
