Women of Action

Women of Action At Presentation, “Not Words, But Deeds,” isn’t just a motto. Rather, it is a heartfelt goal, a mission that is lived out every day. Our students actively engage in local and global communities through service projects, drives, advocacy work and immersion trips.

Service Service is the cornerstone of a Presentation education. Students know when they stand with those in our community who are the most vulnerable, they not only contribute to the common good, but also learn a great deal about themselves and others. Presentation offers service opportunities and placements for all students, as well as a Community Involvement Club designated for students who are truly passionate about volunteering.

Drives Giving back to others is a core value that is ingrained into the culture at Presentation. Every year, we strive to connect our school community more deeply to our local and international communities.

During the holidays, our students work tirelessly to bring in donations for our Food Drive, Penny Drive and Toy Drive benefiting Sacred Heart Community Service. During the spring, our students combine entrepreneurship and philanthropy to organize their own fundraisers to support Mission Drive; proceeds are given to support the ministries of our Sisters of the Presentation in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our drives bring in more than $100,000 annually.

Immersion Program Service-based learning helps students better understand complicated social justice issues while gaining a deeper sense of solidarity with diverse communities. Presentation offers eight immersion trips per year:

San Jose Urban Plunge Washington, D.C. Los Angeles L’Arche, Washington San Francisco Immersion Nogales, Arizona & Mexico Appalachia Dominican Republic

“Serving in La Guama this summer has taught me the definition of community and helped me understand its value. We lived out the Presentation motto, “Not Words, But Deeds” and also had the opportunity to watch the town gather together and spend countless hours building a house for one particular individual and generations to come. No amount of words can truly describe what we experienced on our trip and the long lasting relationships we built. This trip was truly life changing for all of us.”
