About The Jefferson Jazz Ensemble:

Matthew Nicholson is in his first year (officially) as the director of the Cedar Rapids Jefferson Jazz Band, but he was with them and us last year, helping out the band as he wrapped up grad school.

About David Nicholson:

Mr. Nicholson did not have to look far for his guest artist. He chose Iowa’s other band director named Mr. Nicholson. His brother, Mr. DAVID Nicholson. David is the Associate Director of Bands at Davenport Central High School. It was extra fun watch the two of them work with the band. Knowing each other so well, one literally just had to point at the score and other one would nod and say. “Yeah, let’s do that.” Brothers!
