s incredible to think in the space of three months, between the last newsletter and this, that we were celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee in June, and mourning her passing this week.
Whatever your views, there is no doubt that in troubled times we all turn to leaders for guidance and stability.
Queen Elizabeth II provided exactly that with her unerring devotion to duty to not only this country but many others around the world during her 70 year reign.
There has been no shortage of challenges in our world so far in 2022. Whether we look at the devasting global effects of war or the personal trials we face with the cost of living.
It has long been said that ICTS is a family, not only in the UK and Ireland but across the Group, and I embrace those values associated with a close knit family especially in times of worry, concern and anxiety for many of you.
Please don’t forget that ICTS has an Employee Assistance Programme; a confidential programme that provides you and your family members with immediate help and support in managing whatever work or personal issues you are facing.
Our goal is to continue to grow and develop our business here in the UK and Ireland, providing a stable platform with opportunities for our staff to develop their career paths.
We have witnessed significant growths this year in Aviation, and I am excited to reveal that a new Division has been created within the UK dedicated solely to the expansion of our Data Centre client base.
As such, we will continue to hire new staff throughout the winter of 2022 across our business.
Within these pages there are continued heart warming stories of the teamwork and bond between our staff, from our Canine Division excelling at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, to Charity football matches and cycle rides.
Lastly, but not least, ICTS UK and Ireland began 35 years ago at Gatwick Airport in 1987 where I first met Shaike Rozanski who laid the foundations along with others over the years to give us the ICTS we know today with its core family values.
It was a privilege to be with Shaike on his 35th work anniversary.
Thank you for everything you do, each and every day, for not only our clients but within our teams too.
As usual, I finish with, take care and stay safe.

The award is in recognition of its commitment and hard work to keep its employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health.
Andy Kynoch, Managing Director ICTS UK & Ireland said, “We are extremely proud of this award; Health and Safety are at the core of our operation. This award is a testament to our teams’ acute awareness of the importance of keeping our people safe, especially during the pandemic.”
The Gala Dinner, attended by colleagues from our Business Assurance, Corporate Security, Aviation Security and Marketing Departments/Divisions, took place on Friday 24 June in London. Ben Fogle, a British broadcaster, writer and adventurer, was in attendance to present the Award to ICTS.
”
“The vision of British Safety Council is that no one should be injured or made ill through their work anywhere in the world. Achieving this requires more than complying with legislation; it means people committed not only to health and safety but also more and more to workplace wellbeing and impelling others to follow suit.
INTERNATIONAL SAFETY AWARDS: ‘MERIT’ WINNERAs a Silver Member of the Airport Operators Association (AOA), ICTS UK & Ireland was invited to attend the Aviation Reception in London. The event was hosted by Catherine McKinnell MP and took place on Tuesday 5 July 2022 on the Terrace Pavilion of the House of Commons. The Aviation Minister was invited to speak.

OUR COMMITMENT TO A MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE RECOGNISED BY THE AWARD OF THE ECOVADIS SILVER MEDAL
ICTS (UK) has been re awarded the EcoVadis silver medal for our sustainability management system, with particular focus on the following four themes: environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. Our increased score of 64/100 puts us in the 88th percentile of companies assessed by EcoVadis.
EcoVadis has grown to become the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, creating a global network of more than 90,000+ rated companies.

Our Aviation Security and Business Assurance Teams were in attendance together with members of the airport community and emergency services.
“Our Security Teams work in collaboration with a myriad of organisations at airports. Events such as the Airside Safety Week are vital for promoting health, safety and wellbeing awareness and collaboration between the various organisations. Thank you to London Heathrow Airport for organising such a successful event” said Jayne Thorpe Negbi, Executive Director Business Assurance, ICTS UK & Ireland.
On Monday 5 September 2022 the UK became the first country in the world to approve Moderna’s vaccine, which targets both the original strain of Covid and the Omicron variant. A Covid jab that targets both the original strain and Omicron was rolled out across England from 5 September as part of the autumn booster programme.
Having a flu vaccination is vital to prevent a flu epidemic and putting increasing pressure on the NHS, workforces and the wider public. The flu vaccination season starts late September through to December. The flu season is typically from January to April. The best way to mitigate the risk against the flu virus is with a flu vaccination.
Good hygiene is crucial to good overall health and wellness because it helps lower the risk of disease, illness and medical conditions caused by the effects of poor hygiene.
Good personal hygiene habits to keep the germs away:
• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands when you cough or sneeze.
• Put used tissues in the bin immediately.
• Wash your hands after touching anyone who is sneezing, coughing or blowing their nose.
• Wash your hands before preparing food, eating, or touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
• Wash hands with soap and hot water, after going to the toilet.
• Wash hands with soap and water often use sanitizer gel if soap and water are not available.
• Do not share things like towels, lipstick, or anything else that might be contaminated with respiratory germs
• Wipe down keyboards, work surfaces, and other shared work equipment regularly.
Providing adequate ventilation does not mean we have to make the workplace feel cold. There are simple steps we can take to make sure your workplace is adequately ventilated without being too cold:
• Opening windows and doors partially can still provide acceptable ventilation while keeping the workplace comfortable. Opening higher level windows will probably create fewer draughts.
• If the area is cold, we could relax dress codes so people can wear extra layers and warmer clothing.
• Natural ventilation can be used alongside heating systems to maintain a reasonable temperature in the workplace.
Let’s all work together to keep everyone safe this winter.
Thank you.

Congratulations to our EoQs from Aviation: Avril Spark and Margaret Peebles from Aberdeen Airport and Gerard (Gerry) O’Reilly from Dublin Airport.
Avril and Margaret tried their best to assist and comfort a passenger who had had a seizure within the Central Search area of Aberdeen Airport. Both Officers stayed with the passenger throughout his ordeal until the paramedics arrived and he was taken to hospital.
Gerry prevented significant damage to an aircraft engine. Strong winds had blown a baggage cart towards the engine of an aircraft. Gerard raised the alarm and ran to intercept it, managing to reduce its speed. As a result of Gerry’s efforts, the engine only suffered minor damage and the aircraft was able to depart safely.
Avril -
“It really means a lot to me to have been nominated for Employee of the Quarter and even more to have been chosen! I knew I had to help this passenger out and feel that others would have done the same if it had happened any other time.”
Margaret -
“I would like to say thank you for the nomination and it is not something that I would have expected to receive. It feels good to be recognised and appreciated for something that I feel that any other person would have done given the circumstance.”
Gerry -
“Delighted to be selected for the award. I didn’t think too much of the incident at the time. I was just doing my job. I noticed the container coming towards the aircraft engine and my instinct was to prevent damage. My previous work involved aircraft engine maintenance and testing so I know how much trouble and damage this could have caused. I was just very happy to be in the right place at the right time and prevent any incident happening. I am delighted that I received the award, especially as it was from all UK and Ireland sites.”

FROM OUR CORPORATE DIVISION: BRIGIDA DIAS, RICHIE KALU AND MARK DEANEY
Congratulations to our EoQs from Corporate: Brigida Dias and Richie Kalu from Colt and Mark Deaney from Canine Security Services.
Brigida and Richie’s swift actions were instrumental in the prevention of a fire from spreading and causing severe damage. The alarm was immediately raised with the emergency services and the onsite engineering team. Ritchie went as far as to help the engineer onsite to locate a few fire extinguishers and extinguish most of the fire.
Mark provided first aid to an intoxicated male who had sustained a significant cut to the back of his head. He stayed with the injured man until he was brought to hospital.

Winner(s) of the Employee of the Quarter award will receive £/€500 (net) bonus and a lapel pin.
“It is a great pleasure to be nominated for Employee of the Quarter. It is very important to express the value of knowledge from work and use it to help others around you. Thank you again and I wish to keep being a good employee here at ICTS.” RichieMark -
"I have not been with ICTS that long so I was very humbled and honoured to be have been nominated / selected so this has come as a big shock to me."
When did you join ICTS?
I joined ICTS in October 2021.
What do you enjoy most of your job?
I enjoy building relationships with the managers that we have across the business and supporting them on some of their most challenging cases. What key attributes make someone successful in your role?
Being adaptable is key, as the type of issues you deal with can vary day to day. It is also important to have resilience to deal with challenging situations. Lastly, optimism goes a long way in supporting your colleagues around you who may have had a tough day dealing with various issues.
What is your favourite pastime?
I enjoy spending time with my family and trying out new places to eat.
What has been your greatest achievement? Being called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2018.
If you weren’t a Human Resources specialist, what type of career would you choose?
If I didn’t have a career in HR, I would have been an Events Planner. I love organising parties and events and watching as everyone comes together to celebrate. It’s always rewarding seeing everything come together after spending months planning an event.
It is not every day that one is called a ‘Hero’ by the UK’s Prime Minister. Our Corporate Regional Manager, Paul Grzegorzek, met former PM, Boris Johnson on 26 August, whilst the PM was visiting Epsom and St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. Paul was praised for his voluntary work with the Road to Ukraine charity.
We were pleased to sponsor The Camden Clean Air Cycle Ride which took place on Sunday 12 June 2022. The cycle ride around the Borough of Camden promoted the importance of air quality in a non competitive and family friendly way.
As EcoVadis Silver Medal holders, ICTS UK & Ireland is determined to put people and planet first, improve our environmental impact and operate sustainably. We support our employees to make positive active travel decisions through subsidised bike ownership. This improves their health, saves them money, and helps to cut pollution.
Rasheed Thazhathethil, Duty Manager at London Heathrow Airport (photo below) who participated in the event wrote, “The Camden Clean Air Cycle Ride
Camden Clean Air Limited contributed the following statement, “The ride was a huge success with over 280 people of all ages and abilities signed up, and the sun shone down on us all day! We also recognized that not all community members own a bike, but we didn’t want this to be a reason for them not to take part, so partnered with HumanForest to provide free use of their e bikes. This was received positively with the community, with many members stating that they cannot wait to use an electric bike again. We can’t wait for next year’s event already as we get bigger and better.
was such an exciting day for me. Mainly because it was the centre of London, and it was a fantastic feeling to ride without traffic and be surrounded by others on two wheels. I was planning to ride by myself, but then the Plotaroute app wasn't working on my phone well. Then I decided to join the first group, whose ride began at 10:00, and we finished by 13:20; everyone in the group loved the lead because he was such an experienced and knowledgeable man who knew all over the area.
Thank you so much for a fantastic day, the day went so well, and the Camden clean air event organisation was well I sponsored, and the route signs and marshals were perfect; I would not hesitate to book other events."
We are so grateful to have received support from ICTS UK & Ireland to help cover our costs which in turn allowed us to have great community impact. It was amazing to see team members taking part in the ride itself which highlights their support for our message and the importance of improving air quality.”
Our ICTS Team at Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust kicked off the summer with a charity football match on 18 June, organised to raise funds for both the charity Mind, and the St Helier Neonatal Unit. The opposition was Coop funeral care, who fielded an excellent team. They were also joined by Celebrity FC, who provided a number of celebrities and ex semi pro footballers on both sides!
The day was held at the Tooting and Mitcham FC ground, and was well attended by the public, colleagues and families of both teams playing.
ICTS was kind enough to donate a number of items, including a fabulous tombola prize of afternoon tea for 2 at the Ritz! ICTS’ uniform supplier, IOMA, also kindly donated full marked up kit for the ICTS team. Despite heavy rain on the day, the match went well with ICTS just being beaten by Coop at the end during penalties, with a final score of 4 3 to the Coop.
£650 was raised for the charities, and planning has already started for next year’s match!
Alan Richardson and Terry Beggington from our Team at Manchester Airport met with the Greater Manchester Police to discuss the Armed Forces Covenant. The Greater Manchester Police shared their Covenant journey and offered support to ICTS as we are keen to employ military and emergency service veterans.
The Greater Manchester Police and ICTS are the first two organisations in a ‘Manchester Airport Armed Forces Friendly Organisations’ network, a network that will hopefully grow over the coming months. The aim is to support each other with best practice on things like recruitment from the Armed Forces and supporting our own ex military staff who may be struggling and sharing experience and knowledge.
The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has once again selected ICTS UK & Ireland’s Canine Security Division for the provision of security services at its tennis tournaments, including the 2022 Rothesay Open Nottingham (4 12 June) and the 2022 Cinch Championships played at The Queen's Club in London (13 19 June).
ICTS Data Centre footprint is steadily growing in the UK as our teams are busy planning the mobilisation of two new contracts.
A Data Centre global giant has selected ICTS for the provision of guarding services at 10 of its locations situated around the M25 We look forward to welcoming circa 170 new staff members to ICTS.
The second new contract, is with an existing Client that has entrusted ICTS to secure a second location. This time situated in Leeds, as it branches its services away from the South East of England.
We look forward to additional details of these new contracts in future editions of our Newsletter.
This marks the fourth year of ICTS working in partnership with the LTA. ICTS explosives detection dogs and their handlers have worked behind the scenes to ensure the safe running of what are iconic events in the international tennis calendar.
“We are delighted to carry on working with the LTA. Our Dog Teams provide a versatile, mobile and rapid screening service which is non intrusive, efficient and well received by the public. Urged on by a distinct hunting drive, sniffer dogs can detect a wide range of items including drugs, explosives, pyrotechnics, etc. ICTS Teams remain the only ones to hold the Home Office Explosive Detection Dog Standard, the National Canine Training Accreditation Scheme Private Security Sector (NCTAS P) accreditation”, said Andy Dodds, Head of Canine Security Services, ICTS UK & Ireland.
Photo: John Graham’s Detection Dog, Marley.ICTS’ Canine Security Division worked behind the scenes ensuring that the 2022 Commonwealth Games (28 July 8 August) were a success. All eyes were on Birmingham as more than 5,000 athletes from around the Commonwealth group of nations competed in 280 events across 19 sports during the 10 days of the Games.
From 14 July 2022, our Explosives Detection Dog Teams security screened multiple vehicles at a Remote Vehicle Search Site. These vehicles were delivering goods to Commonwealth Games venues.
“
The Commonwealth Games were a thrilling and joyous festival of sport. It was a privilege and pleasure for our Dog Teams to work at such a high profile event. A lot of planning and working in close collaboration with multiple agencies took place in order to deliver that essential added layer of security that a dog and its handler provides and that is recommended by the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure” said Andy Dodds, Divisional Director Canine Security Services, ICTS UK & Ireland.
ICTS Corporate and Canine Security Teams worked in collaboration to secure a high profile event which took place at the end of June at the European Space Agency in Oxfordshire.

Kevin Shopland, ICTS Station Manager at Bristol Airport writes, “After some years and the pandemic, Bristol Airport recognised that the old rest facilities were not to a good standard. The Airport invested in building a new rest room which includes a separate kitchen and new locker room for ICTS staff members. We added the luxury of a TV mounted on the wall.
