A MESSAGE FROM THE MD, ANDY KYNOCH

It’s incredible to think in the space of three months, between the last newsletter and this, that we were celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee in June, and mourning her passing this week. Whatever your views, there is no doubt that in troubled times we all turn to leaders for guidance and stability. Queen Elizabeth II provided exactly that with her unerring devotion to duty to not only this country but many others around the world during her 70-year reign. There has been no shortage of challenges in our world so far in 2022. Whether we look at the devasting global effects of war or the personal trials we face with the cost of living. It has long been said that ICTS is a family, not only in the UK and Ireland but across the Group, and I embrace those values associated with a close-knit family especially in times of worry, concern and anxiety for many of you. Please don’t forget that ICTS has an Employee Assistance Programme; a confidential programme that provides you and your family members with immediate help and support in managing whatever work or personal issues you are facing. Our goal is to continue to grow and develop our business here in the UK and Ireland, providing a stable platform with opportunities for our staff to develop their career paths. We have witnessed significant growths this year in Aviation, and I am excited to reveal that a new Division has been created within the UK dedicated solely to the expansion of our Data Centre client base. As such, we will continue to hire new staff throughout the winter of 2022 across our business.

Within these pages there are continued heartwarming stories of the teamwork and bond between our staff, from our Canine Division excelling at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, to Charity football matches and cycle rides. Lastly, but not least, ICTS UK and Ireland began 35 years ago at Gatwick Airport in 1987 where I first met Shaike Rozanski who laid the foundations along with others over the years to give us the ICTS we know today with its core family values. It was a privilege to be with Shaike on his 35th work anniversary. Thank you for everything you do, each and every day, for not only our clients but within our teams too.

As usual, I finish with, take care and stay safe.

Andy

LET’S ALL GET READY FOR THE WINTER MONTHS AHEAD

VACCINATION

On Monday 5 September 2022 the UK became the first country in the world to approve Moderna’s vaccine, which targets both the original strain of Covid and the Omicron variant. A Covid jab that targets both the original strain and Omicron was rolled out across England from 5 September as part of the autumn booster programme. Having a flu vaccination is vital to prevent a flu epidemic and putting increasing pressure on the NHS, workforces and the wider public. The flu vaccination season starts late September through to December. The flu season is typically from January to April. The best way to mitigate the risk against the flu virus is with a flu vaccination.

GOOD HYGIENE PRACTICES

Good hygiene is crucial to good overall health and wellness because it helps lower the risk of disease, illness and medical conditions caused by the effects of poor hygiene. Good personal hygiene habits to keep the germs away: • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands when you cough or sneeze. • Put used tissues in the bin immediately. • Wash your hands after touching anyone who is sneezing, coughing or blowing their nose. • Wash your hands before preparing food, eating, or touching your eyes, nose or mouth. • Wash hands with soap and hot water, after going to the toilet. • Wash hands with soap and water often – use sanitizer gel if soap and water are not available. • Do not share things like towels, lipstick, or anything else that might be contaminated with respiratory germs • Wipe down keyboards, work surfaces, and other shared work equipment regularly.

BALANCING VENTILATION WITH KEEPING WARM

Providing adequate ventilation does not mean we have to make the workplace feel cold. There are simple steps we can take to make sure your workplace is adequately ventilated without being too cold: • Opening windows and doors partially can still provide acceptable ventilation while keeping the workplace comfortable. Opening higher-level windows will probably create fewer draughts. • If the area is cold, we could relax dress codes so people can wear extra layers and warmer clothing. • Natural ventilation can be used alongside heating systems to maintain a reasonable temperature in the workplace. Let’s all work together to keep everyone safe this winter. Thank you.
