Lady Bulldogs open basketball season ranked 18 in pre-season poll The Howe Lady Bulldogs will open the season ranked 18 in the TABC poll. Howe finished with a 23-10 a year ago and were only the second Howe girls’ varsity basketball team to ever finish as area champions. They’ll open with a scrimmage on Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs were eliminated by Mineola in the regional quarterfinal round of the playoffs in February. They will return four starters from last year’s team including District MVP Ally Harvey, District Defensive Player of the Year Jenna Honore, District Offensive Player of the Year Cassidy Anderson, and Molly Wilson who was 2nd Team All-District.

They also return junior Sierra Copeland who was First Team All-District while coming off the bench a year ago. The lone graduating starter was Calley Vick who was a First Team All-District point guard. Harvey led Howe in points (341), points per game (11.4), blocks (54), rebounds (238), and steals (55). Keep Howe Beautiful picks up loads of trash on Saturday Keep Howe Beautiful awoke early Saturday morning and led a large group of volunteers around various locations in Howe picking up trash. Volunteers from Austin College were also on-hand picking up volunteer credit hours. The Keep Howe Beautiful program began in Howe in 2013 and has grown over the years to a
group with many volunteers willing to clean up the town. Their most recent project has been to construct a flower garden on the premises of Summit Gardens—a wedding and event venue.
