Fundraiser for Summit Garden brings in over $11,000

Clint Catching and Jean Norman began Saturday night's auction with a cross made from the original wood of 125-year-old First Christian Church building. The building is now Summit Gardens - a wedding and event venue. The Summit Gardens committee was able to raise a total of $11,073.50 when the long Saturday was over. The money came from a BBQ dinner, a silent auction, and a live auction. The live auction event was the big fundraiser with $5,000 raised. About $2,000 is remaining to collect upon.

Norman's grankids were finally outbid. A rifle donated by Dr. Dick Smithwick went for $1,200. A lot of food from the BBQ was also auctioned off and brought big money. The HDF wants to thank Georgia Caraway, especially for her auction expertise. Her contributions to the fundraising has been enormous. The venue is 99.9 percent complete and weddings and events could be taking place within weeks from now.
