for Summit Garden brings in over $11,000

The Summit Gardens committee was able to raise a total of $11,073 50 when the long Saturday was over The money came from a BBQ dinner, a silent auction, and a live auction The live auction event was the big fundraiser with $5,000 raised About $2,000 is remaining to collect upon

The Howe Development Foundation oversees the operation of Summit Gardens and the former First Christian Church has been restored as a wedding and event venue to help bring dollars to the community The foundation board, including Chairman Jean Norman and President Monte Walker want to thank everyone who contributed from a dollar donation to a bigticket auction item

The entire Norman family, the Kent Lowder family and members of the Smithwick family were so generous in helping in the live auction items As well as many others

Jean Norman's famous Italian Cream Cake sold for $1,050 as bids went back and forth Norman's grankids were finally outbid A rifle donated by Dr Dick Smithwick went for $1,200 A lot of food from the BBQ was also auctioned off and brought big money

The HDF wants to thank Georgia Caraway, especially for her auction expertise Her contributions to the fundraising has been enormous The venue is 99.9 percent complete and weddings and events could be taking place within weeks from now
