Janie Finney accepted the Hall of Honor award on behalf of her late father Lowell Thompson. Michelle Walker/Howe Enterprise. peoples lives of Howe, Texas. Marion Allison and the leading vote-getter Lowell Thompson were enshrined on Friday night with a good crown on-hand at the Howe EDC/Chamber office at 101 E. Haning St.
volunteer efforts in restoring the former First Christian Church building which is now Summit Gardens. Boyd Dunn and Mike Barlow received a framed picture of them with a message written to them.
The chamber also announced their annual awards which Volunteer Organization of the Year once again went to Keep Howe Beautiful for the second year in a row. The Howe FFA and the Howe Fire Department were also nominees from the public. Also receiving a back-to-back year award was Independent Bank as Business of the Year as they beat out the Howe Enterprise and Smith-Garner CPA in the voting.
The chamber also recognized the departing LeAndra Beckemeyer for her many years of volunteer work in Howe with the chamber, Keep Howe Beautiful, Save the Church, Howe Community Library, and more. The chamber board members signed a collage photo of her work throughout the years and presented it to her in a frame.
The first Hall of Honor inductee was Marion Allison who was remembered for his faith. His wife Nelda Allison accepted the award The coveted Norma J.
