Howe's Economic Development Director Monte Walker stated that it was a great loss to the city and reflected on how the company was managed greatly throughout the years with local leadership. "Today is a sad day for Howe with the announcement of the closure of Magni-Fab," said Walker on Friday afternoon. "The company made many contributions to the community over the years and my heart goes out to the employees. Many great things came from that industry in our city and Magni-Fab was led by great men throughout the years such as Jimmy Bearden and the recently retired Wayne Swineford." Walker said that Grayson County is not overloaded with open warehouse space and that having two soon-to-be vacant buildings in Howe will serve as a lucrative opportunity for another company.

Magni-Fab, which opened in Howe in 1971, had to diversify not soon after and during the oil embargo began to get involved in the telecom industry.
