Bulldogs continue tough stretch

The Howe Bulldogs continue to reel with two more losses last week. Head Coach Eric Johns has made the best with what he's had on the floor each game. At times, due to disciplinary reasons, he's had his hands tied, but sports is more about wins and losses on the court or on the field.

Bulldogs defense stiffened up in the second period only allowing nine points to the Tigers. However, the Dogs struggled to put the ball in the basket and scored only eight points of their own to trail at the half, 33-17.

Elijah Campbell led Howe with 18 points with Caiden Harmon behind him at 10. Other scorers were Devin Porter (9), Noah Campbell (5), Layton Elvington (4), Logan Elvington (2), Jarron Ing (2), Ayden Norton (2), and Colton Thurman (2).

Harmon led Howe with 16 points followed by Noah Campbell (13), Elijah Campbell (12), Porter (10), and Steven Waldrip (2).

Getting the senior Campbell back on the floor in the second half Howe lost on Tuesday at proved to be the answer as Howe Whitewright, 76-51. Kloey Scott is back-to-back spelling bee champ Do you know how to spell grenadier? Kloey Scott does, and spelling that word earned her the title of Howe Middle School Spelling Bee Champion for the second year in a row. Scott battled 21 other students to claim her title by spelling words such as guise, diabolical, indelible, acclamations, and glutinous before being given the winning word. Her confidence never wavered, and her work ethic in studying for the bee certainly paid off. Scott will represent Howe Middle School at the highly competitive Grayson County Spelling Bee to Peter 2:23-25 - and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; be held on February 5 at Grayson while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself County College.
