“It flipped on its roof, so it probably rolled a good eight to 10 feet until it came to a rest on its top,” Maniet said of the truck to the Herald Democrat. “The driver was trapped inside and was extricated. Last we heard, he was doing well at Medical City Plano. He was

airlifted there.” Maniet said the truck was carrying a full load which was wet at the time of the collapse which equates to roughly 70,000 pounds. Emergency crews from Howe, Van Alstyne, Tom Bean and Grayson County were on the scene. Lone Star Hazmat crews were working until late in the evening to cleanup possible water contamination from the area over the drainage ditch. Howe Fire Department's Facebook page post read in part, "We would like to thank the Howe Police Department, Van Alstyne Fire Department, Sherman Fire - Rescue, CareFlite, Tom Bean PD, Lone Star Hazmat Response, Adams Automotive & Towing, and Lone Star Heavy Rescue for coming out to help."

The scene was highly visible from US Highway 75.
