Big Griff jams Big VA

Photo by Michelle Carney The combination of sophomore Mason Riggs and senior Matt Griffin was too much for Van Alstyne as Howe (12-5, 4-1) took home the victory, 6-1. Riggs was officially the winning pitcher.

Reagan was the starting pitcher and allowed both of the earned runs in four inning pitched. He struck out seven batters, walked two and struck out two. Griffin came on in relief and allowed three runs, of which none were earned. He struck out four in two and one-third innings. Tanner Hartsfield came in for late-inning relief and allowed three walks and one hit in twothirds of an inning.

Peyton Reagan led the Dogs with three hits in four plate appearances. Seniors Brandon Wall, Brennan Ross, and Tyler Grisham each hit doubles with Wall's driving in two. Ross had the other RBI of the night. On Tuesday, Howe stayed in it until the end, but Farmersville pulled away late in a 9-4 victory. Lady Bulldogs place first again

Meradith Ross, Charlsie and Peyton all tied for individual first place by shooting a 94 each. It is believed to be the first time that Howe has had a three-way tie for first place from the same team.
