Howe's sales tax up 14 percent from last April Glenn Hegar, Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts released the April figures last week and Howe showed a 14.44 percent increase over April of 2015. So far in 2016, the city has generated $95,131.83 in sales tax revenue, Howe which is -1.76 percent behind the record setting 2015 total. Neighboring cities also fared well as Van Alstyne showed a 22.82 percent April
increase over April of 2015. The ever fast growing Melissa is showing an unbelievable 66 percent increase from a year ago. Overall, they are up 41.97 percent from a year ago. Anna is up 8.73 percent. Sherman is up 22.28 percent, Denison has risen 7.56 percent. Tom Bean and Whitewright each showed negative growth in sales tax figures for April. Tom Bean's number was -3.94 percent and
down -5.84 percent overall. Whitewright, who has suffered the loss of their Wal-Mart showed only a moderate loss of -0.05. They are down 5 percent from a year ago. Melissa, +66.55 % Van Alstyne, +22.82% Sherman, 22.28% Howe, 14.44% Anna, 8.73%
