Howe's That Howe has a always been known as a community that helps each other out. The greatest things about small towns is that very aspect of tribalism so some degree. In last week's edition, you saw the front page of the house fire on Walnut Street. It was the home of Tim and Kathy Becker who moved to Howe nine years ago. While living here, they've never asked anyone for anything and now are in need of everything and are asking their neighbors for a little help. They have already met with Linda Wall and were able to get some clothes from Peggy's Porch. A storage facility in Van Alstyne has donated space for three months.

Palio's Pizza Cafe coming to Howe
The long awaited secret has been revealed. Palio's Pizza Cafe is to open in approximately a month and a half in Howe. Owner Harry Awad says that Howe's location the
smallest town size of any of the 42 Palio's locations, but thinks the future of the city is bright. Full story in the coming weeks.
Howe Middle School Band receive "ones" at UIL
The Beckers lost everything from eating utinsels to furniture. Their home insurance paid for the mortgage to be covered, but not the house to be demolished. In the coming days, we will be able to tell you how you can help. In the meantime, you can donate money by depositing into the Howe Chamber of Commerce account at Independent Bank and all money deposited for the Becker family will go to them.
The UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest took place in Anna last week and the Howe Middle School Band came up with aces among some pretty steep competition. The band prepares for three peices which include a march and two conrasting styles off
of a prescribed music list. Three judges graded those three performances before going across the hall and given music that they've never seen before and asked to sight read the music. When it was all said Continued on page 11

Money mixed with trash for Trash-off on Saturday
This coming Saturday is Keep Howe Beautiful's "Trash-Off." They are asking citizens to come together to clean up Howe by picking up trash and they have special incentives for those who care to do so. There will be cash laying around on the ground along with gift certificates from local businesses. Those who actually do volunteer to pick up trash could actually make some money. Volunteers of all ages are asked to meet at 10 am at the Howe Development Alliance building at 101 E. Haning St. KHB is asking volunteers to bring gloves and proper shoes. Trash bags will be provided.
Howe Athletic Booster Club seeking board members The Howe Athletic Booster Club will be holding board member elections during the May meeting. Any interested party may run for any position they choose. Ken Honaker and Tammy Griffin plan to continue to serve as president and treasurer respectively, however, the positions of vice president and secretary will be open and need to be filled.
