“When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward Him, He said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?" He asked this only to test him, for He already had in mind what He was going to do,” John 6:5 “Philip answered Him, ‘Eight months wages would not buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!’ Another of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, spoke up, ‘Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many? Jesus said, ‘Have the people sit down.’ There was plenty of grass and about five thousand men sat down. Jesus then took the bread and gave thanks to God. Then He passed the bread to the people then He did the same with the fish, until everyone had plenty to eat. When they had eaten all they wanted, He said to His disciples, ‘Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.’ So they gathered them and filled twelve large baskets with the leftovers of the five barley loaves. After the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus did, they began to say, ‘Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.’" John 6:6- 14.

Monday, September 28, 2015 Jesus and he found a huge crowd of over 5000 people already there. He pushed forward to be near Jesus so that he could see Him clearly and hear what He had to say. God provides through obedience and preparing to be a blessing. The Holy Spirit spoke to the boy’s mom to provide a lunch. The Holy Spirit led the boy to be in just the right spot. Out of a crowd that big, Andrew just happens to see a boy with a lunch box! The Holy Spirit guided the boy to make his way in the crowd to the front. He saw the crowd, he saw his lunch, and he trusted Jesus. God will use what you have that looks insufficient if you trust Him. "What can I do to help you?’ Elisha asked. ‘Tell me, what do you have in the house?’ ‘Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,’ she replied.” 2 Kings 4:2. The widow’s husband owed a man a lot of money when he died and now that man was on his way to take her two sons as slaves to pay that debt. Elisha told the woman to tell her sons to go out and find all the empty jars that they could. The mom told her sons to borrow from their neighbors and friends. The boys went out and asked all the neighbors and all of their friends to give them their empty jars until there were no more jars to be found. Elisha told the woman and her sons to go inside her house and shut the door. The neighborhood knew her husband had passed away owing money and that she had none to repay his debit. I’m sure they were curious as to why this widow, with nothing, needed empty jars. Elisha was telling her to not feed the gossip, shut the door; we’ll take care of this. “…Use the oil that you have and fill the first jar and then set it aside. Then fill the next jar and keep filling all the jars until there are not any left,” 2 Kings 4:4.

“So she went from him and shut the door behind herself and her sons. And as she poured they brought the vessels to her. When the vessels were full, she said to her son, ‘Bring me another vessel.’ And he said to her, ‘There is no more.’ Then the oil stopped flowing,” 2 Kings 4:56. Her original olive oil was never No matter what you feel, you have emptied. The woman went outside something to offer Jesus. The to tell Elisha and he told her to go Bible doesn’t give us the boy’s and sale the oil. It would be enough name but we know he went to hear to pay off all the money that her

husband owed and her sons would and her and her family had enough not be taken away from her. food for a long time. Elijah came to a town and saw a widow gathering sticks for a fire. He asks her for a cup of water. “As she was going to get it, he called to her and said, ‘Please bring me a piece of bread.’ But she said, ‘As the LORD your God lives, I have no bread, only a handful of flour in the bowl and a little oil in the jar; and behold, I am gathering a few sticks that I may go in and prepare for me and my son, that we may eat it and die.’ Then Elijah said to her, ‘Do not fear; go, do as you have said, but make me a little bread cake from it first and bring it out to me, and afterward you may make one for yourself and for your son.’ For the God of Israel, says the jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day He sends rain on the land,” 1 King 17:11-14. The widow did exactly what she was asked to do

Don’t eat your seed. You have to have something to plant. If that little boy had stopped on his journey to meet Jesus and eat his lunch, 5000 people would have went hungry. If that widow had used her last jar of oil, her sons would have been taken into slavery. If the woman had refused to give Elijah to time of day and fed herself and her son first, they’d both had died and… "He that sows little shall reap little; and he which sows generously shall reap generously," 2Cor:9:6 If you don’t have a Bible please contact me at sfadebbie@yahoo.com and I will provide one.
