Wortham given surprise party by city for 40 years

David Wortham, of Public Works for the City of Howe was thrown a surprise party When someone who works as hard as David Wortham does, it's hard to even get him to come to his own surprise party. The City of Howe recognized Wortham with a 40-year celebration for his dedication to the city, but in order to get him there, they had to tell him there was leak in the alley behind the Howe Development Alliance building in downtown Howe. It was only upon arrival that he figured out that he had been duped.

Documented in The Howe Enterprise in Volume 53, Edition 7, Wortham started his career with the city on the trash truck. With a great attitude and exquisite work ethic, Wortham has jumped to the top of the public works division for Howe.

The family

He also was a volunteer fire-fighter for 35 years in Howe and has been in every ditch, pot hole, and man hole in the 75459. Wortham is a 1975 graduate of Howe High School and is the son of Marilee and the late Dug Wortham.

Many city employees along with Wortham's family and friends were on-hand for the party. It is estimated witout official record that Wortham is the longest tenured city employee in He says he has about five years left in him the town's history. before retirement.
