Former Howe Athletic Director and Head Coach Joey McQueen's coaching career can be summed up by the lyrics of the Allman Brothers famous hit, "Ramblin' Man"

"Lord, I was born a ramblin' man, Tryin' to make a livin' and doin' the best I can And when it's time for leavin', I hope you'll understand, That I was born a ramblin' man."

However, McQueen is no different than 99 percent of those that make a career of the athletic director/head football coach profession He has officially started at a new school as of June 22 in Comfort, Texas and we will make no cozy puns in this article

McQueen got back in the high school head coaching ranks after a couple of years of being the receivers coach at Hardin-Simmons University

He was 16-16-2 in Howe and the two ties were both historic games in the playoffs in 1990 Howe tied Celina, 14-14 and advanced on penetrations and the following week tied Olney, 10-10 and advanced on first downs in the area championship. The Bulldogs finished as bi-distgrict and area champions in 1990 under McQueen and followed that up with a District Championship 8-3 season in 1991 McQueen left after a dismal 2-8 season in the fall of 1992

McQueen's head coaching career started in Bells in 1989 where he led the Panthers to their best season in school history. Having been coached in high school by then Howe's superintendent Pete Simmons, he came to Howe has the head coach and athletic director after Jim Fryar had resigned to take the same position at Jacksboro ISD

McQueen was the head coach of the Fellowship Christian Athletes Victory Bowl blue team this past season
