Garrett Fulenchek recorded his first career professional win on Wednesday night with one shutout inning recorded He struck out one hitter and was able to get the other two hitters to ground out

One of those ground outs hit Fulenchek in the shin and he was taken for x-rays for precautionary measures The results came back negative for any fractures

Fulenchek now stands with a 1-8 career record in 16 professional appearances with the Braves and Rays organizations. The outing lowered his season earned run average to 4 50 He has yet to give up a run since being traded to the Rays

Fulenchek will evaluated on an on-going basis to determine how long he will miss. The ball that hit him in the shin was clocked at 98 miles per hour coming off of the bat The knot on his shin is large and black and purple
