School Board has quick meeting

will focus on the last 25 years since the original publication of the cookbook. The beautification group will also wants to have a gardening section and tips for planting flowers that will take in this area on these soils. The original book was compiled by members of the Howe Chamber of Commerce back in 1990 and was spear-headed by Lana Rideout, Carrie Waller and others. The book will not feature as much history due to a national historic book about Howe being created by Dr. Georgia Caraway. KHB hopes to have it available in time for Christmas and for an affordable price in the $20 range. In one of the shortest school board meetings in awhile, Howe Elementary School Principal Clarissa Doty reported that the 'Meet the Teacher' night will be held on August 20 and the annual fall festival will be held on October 17.

McCoy for middle school math, Logan Stalcup for assistant band director, Tori Vincent for third grade elementary and Joseph Wright for high school science. Wilson said they are in the process of hiring a softball coach, social studies teacher and high school library aid.

Superintendent Kevin Wilson reported that the two trees that were in front of Charles R. Thompson Gymnasium have been removed due to one of them dying and the other following behind it. He says new trees will be planted there in the fall.

The ISD did complete the sale of the property on S. Hughes Street which housed the former bus barn from many year ago. The First Baptist Church bought the property for roughly the same amount that the ISD paid to have the two buildings razed which was $12,739.15.

Doty also commended the districts decision to power wash the gym and the facilities as it has improved the image by leaps and bounds.

Julie Snapp reported that in the last month of the fiscal year, the total cash in the bank is $667,784. Total cash available in investments was $1,444,382. In the general fund, for the year, the ISD brought in $9,198,266 which 100.48 percent of the budget. The expenditure was $9,356,363 which was 94.75 percent of the budget. They were over $158,097 on expenditures versus revenues which brings the projected fund balance to $3,092,276.

Wilson stated that he accepted resgnations from Adam Rupert, Clayton McCarter, Stacy Taylor, Sergio Lopez and Jodi Hough. He stated that he's offered contracts to Jennifer Bullard for elementary special education, Erin
