JLG NZ – SERVICE COVERAGE FROM NORTH TO SOUTH

s a leading distributor of Elevated Work Platforms (EWPs) including boom lifts, scissor lifts, vertical lifts, compact crawler booms and low level access, JLG New Zealand recognises that supporting its machines is also a priority. While the JLG branch is based in Mt Wellington, Auckland, where it provides new machine sales, spare parts stock and houses its main workshop, the company has technicians located in major centres throughout the North and South islands, offering coverage to most regions at short notice. The company’s breadth of service and maintenance coverage is facilitated by four Auckland-based technicians, a technician in Wellington, two in Christchurch and one in Central Otago to service the lower half of the South Island. JLG New Zealand Branch Manager, Brian Lund, said that the company’s ability to mobilise technicians to all parts of the country gave JLG equipment customers added peace of mind. “For most of our customers there’s much greater convenience in having their equipment serviced on the job site or at their local depot because there’s less interruption to workflow,” Brian said. “Similarly, we understand that an unforeseen issue could result in

downtime and in a worst case scenario, bring a job to a grinding halt, and this costs money, so it’s reassuring for customers to know that we can dispatch a local technician at short notice to rectify any issues.” Renewed focus on the lower South Island Based in Cromwell in the Central Otago region, JLG team member, Hamish McMurtrie, is an extremely experienced CBIP-accredited technician who prides himself on going to all lengths to assist JLG customers in the area. Hamish’s location sees him wellplaced to service JLG equipment in Cromwell, Wanaka, Queenstown, Dunedin, Gore and Invercargill and sees him working in not only some of the most picturesque regions of New Zealand, but also in some of the most demanding conditions from snow and sleet to high temperatures to support customers. As one of the only permanently based CBIP-accredited technicians in the Otago region, Hamish works to undertake operators’ required EWP six monthly certifications, three monthly routine inspections as well as annual servicing and repairs, ensuring operator safety and machine reliability for JLG customers. A qualified light vehicle technician and experienced auto electrician,

Hamish has worked in the access industry for the past seven years including the last two years with JLG New Zealand, where he has completed a number of product specific training courses on JLG product lines. Hamish also has experience maintaining, diagnosing faults, servicing and repairing other manufacturer machines, which is convenient for customers who operate a variety of machine brands. Being somewhat of a local having spent most of his younger years in Dunedin before moving to Auckland and then Christchurch, Hamish is very familiar with the area and the needs of JLG customers; he’s also a regular participant in motorsport activities in Central Otago. All JLG New Zealand technicians are backed by an aftermarket team in Auckland and technical support and advice from our very knowledgeable technical support division in Australia, so help is never far away.
