Starter Circuit Troubleshooting

The engine does not start. Does the starter engage and turn over the engine?

Is there 12 volts at the fuel shut-off solenoid?

Check the fuel system pressure before replacing the fuel solenoid.

Is the fuel shut-off solenoid fuse (Fuse #2) open?

Is the transmission shift lever in neutral?

Replace the fuel shut-off fuse. Repair or replace the wires between the fuel shut-off solenoid and the fuse.

Move the shift lever to the neutral position. YES

Is the battery fully charged? NO Charge or replace the battery. YES

Is the battery properly grounded?

Is the ignition fuse (Fuse #1) open? Replace the battery ground cable.

Replace the ignition fuse.

Is the gear selector fuse (Fuse #2) open?

Replace the gear selector fuse (Fuse #2).

Is there 12 volts at the power terminal of the ignition fuse?

Replace the 60 amp in-line fuse between the battery terminal of the starter relay and the fuse box.

With the key switch ON, is there 12 volts at the power terminal of the gear selector fuse (Fuse#2)?

With the key switch ON, is there 12 volts at the ignition terminal of the key switch?

Use a multimeter to test. Is there 12 volts at the battery terminal of the starter?

With the key switch ON and the starter switch depressed, is there 12 volts at the starter terminal of the starter solenoid?

Repair or replace the starter and/or starter solenoid.

With the starter switch depressed, is there 12 volts at the white wire terminal of the starter switch?

Repair or replace the wire between the starter switch and starter solendoid.

Replace the battery cables between the starter and the battery. wire terminal at the starter switch?

With the key switch on, is there 12 volts at the white/blue

Replace the gear selector switch.

Replace the starter switch.
