3 MOVING OFF AND RIDING
WARNING This is a high-performance vehicle. We recommend that you become familiar with it gradually using the greatest care. Do not store any objects between the handlebar and the instrument panel, this could impair handlebar movement or hide the instrument panel from your vision.
NOTE Before moving off, carefully read section "Safe Riding", see page 5 (SAFE RIDING).
CAUTION If the low fuel warning light " " (1) on the instrument panel comes on when riding, it means that there are 4 litres of fuel left in the tank. 50

Refuel as soon as possible, see page 32 (FUEL).
WARNING If you are riding solo, make sure the passenger footpegs are folded up before moving off. While riding, keep your hands on the handlebar and your feet on the footpegs. NEVER RIDE IN ANY POSITION OTHER THAN THE RECOMMENDED RIDING POSITION.

WARNING If you are riding with a passenger, give your passenger proper instructions to avoid problems when manoeuvring. Before moving off, make sure the stand is fully up. To move off: u Start the engine, see page 48 (STARTING). u Adjust the rear-view mirrors. u With the throttle twistgrip (2) released (Pos. A), let engine idle and pull the clutch lever (3) fully in. u Push down the gear shift lever (4) to engage the first gear. u Release the brake lever (you had pulled it when you started the engine).
