CHAPTER 10 PREPARING FOR FIELD OPERATION ASSEMBLED SPREADER GEHL Box Spreaders have a Beater Clutch which con trols operation of the Beater. Before loading Spreader and before engaging the PTO to unload the Spreader, BE SURE the Control Indicator (on the front of the Spreader) is in the "Start" position. Then, engage the
PTO at a low RPM. Shear Bolt overload protection is provided for both the Apron Drive and Main Drive Shaft. Refer to the Operation chapter for additional details. If Spreader is going to be operated in freezing temperatures, BE SURE to review and comply with recommendations set forth in the Operation chapter, under the Winter Operation topic.
