Operator Safety Zone The operator safety zone only functions when SRB is operating using Infrared or Serial Tracking. Two safety zones are established based on the shearer position. One zone covers the headgate drum and a few shields on the headgate side of the shearer; the other zone covers the tailgate drum and a few shields on the tailgate side of the shearer. Shields can not advance automatically in the Operator Safety Zones. If a shield needs to be moved while in the safety zone, it must be moved by Parameters using the man-in-place keys from a nearby shield. This "Auto HG Safety Zone” provides a safe area for the shearer operators and prevents collisions between an attempted shield advance “Auto TG Safety Zone” and the shearer. This zone is established by setting the “HG Drum Distance” parameters “Auto HG Safety Zone”, “Auto TG Safety Zone”, “HG Drum Distance”, and “TG Drum Distance”. “TG Drum Distance” All shields in the Operator Safety Zone will show “OpZone” on the display.
