The Server PMC-R is responsible for numbering all of the shield PMC-Rs and integrating the shield system with other systems via the PMC-P. The Server PMC-R also provides control of the dump valve. See Pressure Dump Feature on page 15. The Visualization Computer Unit (VCU) monitors and records information from the shields so the user can monitor the longwall operation, change settings, and review data to identify maintenance requirements and better understand the operation and utilization of the longwall system. By making changes to various parameters, it is possible to trigger shield movement – caution is required!
