2 - SAFETY INFORMATION
STOP When the machine has to stop for any reason, always check that all controls are in the neutral position and that the safety lever is in the locked position, thus ensuring there is no risk when work is restarted. Put the switches in the off position. Turn the ignition key OFF. Never leave the machine unattended with the engine running. Before leaving the operator seat and after making sure that all people are away from the machine, slowly lower the attachment to position it safely on the ground. Retract any auxiliary tools to a safe position. Align the upper structure to tracks in order to allow the entry or exit from the operator cab. Move all controls to the position specified for stopping the machine. Move the machine away from pits, ditches, walls, rocks, locations with overhead electric lines. Park the machine on firm level ground. If this is not possible, position the machine perpendicular to the slope of the terrain, making sure there is no danger of unexpected movement. Park the machine in an area outside of the work site and without traffic. If that is not possible, provide appropriate flags, barriers, lighting and other appropriate signals, as required, to properly warn drivers traveling through the location. Always turn off the ignition key before cleaning, repair, or when parking the machine, thus preventing any accidental movement or travel. Never activate the attachment or auxiliary tools without being seated in the operator's seat. Use the horn to warn other people. Make sure that no one is in the radius of action of the machine.
MAINTENANCE Carefully read the Operation and Maintenance Manual before starting, operating, performing maintenance, fueling, or repairing the machine in any way. See all safety decals placed on the machine. Observe and follow the instructions they contain. Do not allow unauthorized personnel to repair or perform maintenance tasks on the machine. Follow all recommended maintenance and service procedures. Do not wear rings, wrist watches, jewellery, loose or hanging garments, such as ties, torn clothing, scarves, unbuttoned or unzipped jackets that can get caught by movements of rotating components. Use certified safety equipment such as: hard hat, no-slip footwear, heavy gloves, ear protection, safety glasses, reflector vests, respirators when required. Ask your employer about the protection and safety regulations. Do not use the control levers or hydraulic hoses as supports.
The hydraulic hoses and control levers are movable parts and do not provide solid support. In addition, control levers may be inadvertently moved and cause unexpected movement of the machine or its attachments. Do not jump on or off the machine. Always keep both hands and one foot, or both feet and one hand, in contact with the steps and handrails. Always use three points of support when entering or exiting the machine. Never perform maintenance with someone sitting in the operator’s seat, unless this person is an authorized operator assisting in the maintenance being carried out. Always keep the operator’s compartment, steps, handrails and control handles clean and clear of foreign objects, oil, grease, mud or snow to reduce the risk of slipping or stumbling. Remove mud or grease from your shoes before entering the cab to operate the machine. Keep the operator’s seat free of foreign objects, especially if they are not secured. Should it be necessary to move the attachment to perform a maintenance task, do not raise or lower it from any other position than sitting in the operator’s seat. Sound the horn and require that no one remain near the machine. Raise the attachment slowly. Always lock all moving components or parts of the machine that should be lifted for maintenance purposes using adequate external lifting equipment as required by local regulations. Do not allow anyone to pass, remain near or below a raised attachment. Do not put your head, body, limbs, hands, feet, or fingers near the articulating cutting edges without the necessary protection, unless they are properly and securely locked. Never lubricate, repair or make adjustments to the machine with the engine running, except when this is absolutely based on the task to be performed. When the maintenance to be performed requires access to areas that cannot be reached from the ground, use a ladder or scaffolding. If a ladder or scaffolding are not available, use the machine handrails and steps. Perform any maintenance work with the greatest care and attention. Workshop maintenance or field scaffolding should be manufactured and maintained in accordance with the safety regulations. Disconnect the batteries and put a "Do Not Operate" tag on the controls to warn maintenance work is in progress. Do not check or fill the fuel reservoir or install batteries near burning or smoking materials or open flames due to the presence of flammable vapors. The fuel filling pump nozzle must be kept constantly in contact with the reservoir neck, even before the fuel starts flowing in. Keep this contact from the beginning to the end of the fuelling operation to prevent possible generation of sparks due to static electricity.
