Holiday Bazaar Thanksgiving at St. Malachy Service at Plainfield
Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church will be hosting its annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 6th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Over 25+ vendors and artisans will be participating. Come shop our great selection of Gift Baskets, Fall and Christmas décor and a variety of homemade craft items. Baked goods and sweet treats will also be for sale. In addition, there will be a raffle, photo booth, a special appearance by Mrs. Claus and much more! Lunch will be available during the event. Admission is FREE! MRS. The Plainfield Federation of Churches invites the community to a Thanksgiving Worship Service on Sunday, November 21 at 7:00 p.m. The service will be held at First Baptist Church of Plainfield, 1012 Stafford Road (on the corner of Simmons and Stafford Road.) A freewill offering will be taken to benefit the PFC Food Pantry at St. Mark’s in Plainfield.

DANVILLE METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT MERIT BOARD OPENING The Town of Danville is accepting applications for a position on the Danville Metropolitan Police Department’s Merit Board. Candidates are required to submit an application and a brief resume. Candidates must reside in the Town of Danville’s corporate limits; cannot be related to any member of the Police Department, must declare their political affiliation and be at least 21 years of age. Application Deadline is December 3rd by 4:00 PM. Applications may be picked up at the Danville Metropolitan Police Department during normal business hours. A commissioner must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. A commissioner must be a person of good moral character. A commissioner must have been a legal resident of Danville for three (3) consecutive years preceding the term. Political affiliation shall be determined through the voters’ registration records of the three (3) most recent primary elections. Police Merit Board: A merit commission will consist of five (5) commissioners: Two (2) persons, who must be of different political parties, appointed by the Town Council President; One (1) person appointed by the Town Council; Two (2) persons, who must be off different political parties, elected by the police officers of the Department. Commissioners will meet as needed and are responsible for hiring, terminating, and disciplining officers. Terms of a commissioner will be 4 years.
